Haha! I had my Chewie flip over his wet kibble once too! Good luck with hiding the chicken ;-D! I'm sure they'll love you. What ferret wouldn't like their owner for "spoiling" them everyday :-D!!lol!

Well, yesterday Stitch ate a little bit of the mush off the plate. So proud!
And I haven't gotten to the chicken yet. I've been eating out a lot with my family because my sister is moving. Argh, been so busy @_@ The roomies have been exhausting the ferrets, so when I come home RJ and Stitch aren't quite so bouncy ("what, you want us to play again ALREADY?!"). I'm kinda jealous -_-
Anyways, I might try porkchop meat instead seeing as how that's what we'll be cooking again tonight, and then there's a lot of leftover rice we need to make into fried rice before it goes bad. I might just thaw a single chicken breast out for them, no telling when I will actually get to cook it (for some reason my well-laid dinner plans always seem to go awry. Hm.)
Ahh well, another update hopefully soon. -_-

Hi!!
I'm your mentor, my name is Maria. I own 3 fuzzies Weezer, Lillian and Ravi. Weezer and Ravi are marked dark eyed whites and Lillisn is albino. I got Weezer October 8th '07, Lillian in November and we just got Ravi 2 weeks ago. I started trying to get Weezer to eat raw right away but also fed kibble for a couple months. Lilian and Ravi took right to raw but Weezer was much harder to switch. They eat all raw with the exception of kibble once in the blue moon.
I'm sorry it to me a while to get to you, since Guili has had computer problems there had been a lost message and I didn't know I was supposed to be on your thread.
How have your fuzzies been doing with the switch? Do you have a blender?? You can try making soupies at home with chicken, kibble and water.. If you use mostly kibble with a bit of chicken and enough water to make it soupy and they are willing to eat it it will make for quicker progress. I prefer that methiod when it is possible.

Hi Maria! I am really, really, really sorry it has taken me so long to let you know what's going on. In addition to my sister moving down to Texas, I got a really nasty head cold, so I've been out of commission since Thursday. As a result, they've been on dry kibble (probably undoing all of my hard work up until now -_- ) as pounding the kibble served to give me a really nasty headache. I'm well on the way to being better though, and today I have several house chores I need to get done that I let slack while I was sick. So let's try take two, shall we? Heh heh, things are going back to normal, no more hectic scurrying around for me (thank goodness, I'm not the sort to be cut out for that, prolly why I got sick in the first place) SO I'm going to be attacking the mush again later today or tomorrow! (and I still need to cook that fried rice... hopefully the leftover rice is still good ) Hehe, I'm glad you have some experience with stubborn fuzzies though. I do indeed have a blender, though it's a weak variety and I'll have to soak the kibble before tossing it in there. >> I'll give another update after I've finished sleeping off the nyquil and finished the housework and then trying another mush platter. Thanks for being so patient!

That's okay.. I understand, sometimes you can't function when you are sick. I've been lucky enough that when I'm sick it isn't bad and only lasts a couple days.
Hopefully they will go after the mush (or soup) and enjoy it..
I realized something about my ferret intro, I was lazy and copied it from another one of my threads. We've had him for more like 2 months, not weeks.

Haha, no big. I recovered, and then my laptop died. It's now at the local geekcity to be diagnosed. In the meantime, I've arranged with my bf that I can use his.
After a couple of days of trial and error with the chicken, I ground it up into near puree, and mixed it, water and ferret kibble and warmed it. I discovered I had to put more than just a few drops of ferretone in it (try a whole tsp).
RJ merrily ate half the plate, and Stitch nibbled a couple of bites before withdrawing from the plate. I've got maybe a weeks worth of ground chicken waiting in my freezer.
So, should I just feed it once a day and leave the dry kibble in the rest of the time, or feed once in the morning and once at night? If just twice a day, how much per sitting?

I would feed them twice a day, as much as they will eat. It'll probably be 1 or 2 onces per feeding per ferret. As long as Stitch is trying it that means progress. RJ seems to be doing pretty well

Hmmk, I think I might need to get a little scale then... I'm not very good at guessing weights.
RJ seems to gobble up a few chunks, but I'm nervous it's not enough. Stitch only took a few mouthfuls last night before giving me the "Okay, I'm done playing around now. Where's the real food?" look. I put some dry kibble in this morning because he still wouldn't eat any chicken. I think RJ will be a smooth ride, but I think I'll have some issues with Stitch.
So pretty much just keep trying with Stitch until he capitulates? After I get a scale, should I start measuring how much dry kibble I give him to encourage him eating the chicken as much as possible? I don't want him to not be eating enough, but I can see him not eating the chicken out of protest. >.<

Ferrets really don't need much raw food, think of an ice cube. My fuzzeis eat about 2 ice cubes worth of food (per ferret) each day. It's really not much at all. If Stitch takes longer then that is fine, it's not a race and some fuzzies do take longer. Just keep on trying, maybe even try another meat like beef and see how it goes.

Oh, wow, that really isn't that much. Hmmm.... I'd say RJ is maybe eating one ounce, then, and Stitch is still only taking a few mouthfuls. Like you said though, no need for rushing. This morning I tried something new, I put the dry kibble into their bowl and mixed it with some small chunks of chicken. I'm hoping a few pieces will be gobbled up. >>

The chunks of chicken in the food bowl with the whole dry kibble seems to have worked (come to think of it, I should probably search their bedding for stray pieces of chicken ><), so I did that again today. I lessened the amount of chicken I put out last night, and sure enough almost all of it had been eaten. Stitch was more or less still eating mainly kibble, but I saw him licking the chicken. Kekeke, he likes it, he just doesn't want to admit it. >

Nothing new yet, Stitch is still picking at it and RJ will take chunks. . .kinda feeling like they take a step back before taking a couple of steps forward.
