I have to use this rubber floor pad in my room, but can't screw it down because Slinky will destroy it: www.lilmynx.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_25&products_id=40Is there anything I can put on this rubber pad to keep ferrets from gnawing on it? I've thought of the bitter spray (heard it works for dogs), but if there's anything natural, I'll try that first. Currently, I cage the ferrets when I use the floor pad, and remove the pad before I let the ferrets out. But it would be much safer if I screwed the pad (and pole) into the floor... but then ferrets+rubber=bad.... Any ideas?

I've tried a couple of "natural" products with little to no succes when it comes to ferrets and rubber. I've even seen them tolerate the bitter apple stuff to chew on rubber. It's going to be very much a trial and error thing Is there something that you could put over it, a cover maybe?? That would be even safer for your guys. A garbage can lid??? You got me It's just an idea maybe someone else can come up with something. Spraying something on it to deter them from chewing it will depend entirely on how much your guys want to chew on the rubber. I've got a couple of ferrets who would sooner gag and foam at the mouth than pass up a good rubber chew ciao

I've got a couple of ferrets who would sooner gag and foam at the mouth than pass up a good rubber chew Oh no.... that sounds like Slinky (aka Snowball). Weasel bites stuff but he doesn't destroy things like Snowball. Here's a picture of the black base and beige-colored floor pad. Screws should go through the base and floor pad, securing it to the floor- but then it would no longer be removable in a free-roam ferret zone. I guess I'll just keep it removable until I find a bite-deterrent or barrier.
