i've noticed over the past 2 days that when Gidget walks, she kinda limps around, not like her foot is broken or anything, kind of like she just grazes her right foot on the ground while skipping. i can hear it when she's in the playpen because of the mat. it's almost like she's keeping her foot on the groung as she walks. she doesn't drag it or anything though. do you get what i'm trying to say? it's hard to explain. i just hope it's not anything bad. i'll take her to the vet just incase. but if anyone knows what i'm talking about i'd love to hear some feedback. thanks!

Yeah, I'd get her to the vet and find out whats up. Hopefully she just sprained it or something.

Very interesting, and she's never done this before? I would take her and try and (gently) manipulate her foot. See if moving it a certain way causes her pain. If she seems fine about it I would wait 1-3 days and see if it goes away on its own. If it does, I wouldnt worry, if it doesnt I'd take her to the vet. I think its important to take pets to the vet when they are obviously hurt, but at the same time, with four animals I cant afford to go rushing off and spend money on something if it will go away on its own. This takes away cash from REAL emergencies. If you feel that its severe enough to warrant an immediate vet visit, then by all means take her in, but if she seems okay I would wait a few days to see what happens with the foot. Swelling and pain is a good indication that its vet time...

Could be a torn tendon. My 6.5 YO female sable Precious has one on her back left leg. We've had a few electromagnetic pulse treatments done and it seems to be a little better. The vet x-rayed to confirm nothing more serious. She may be over 6 but she doesn't act like it. I think she hurt it playing.

i took GIDGET to the vet today and everything checked out ok. when he felt her femur she was a little edgy so he said it could be a hairline fracture. nothing to worry about just keep her from bouncing around like a normal ferret for 2 weeks! 2 weeks! i dont think she will be able to handle that! lol. he took some x rays and nothing showed up so we're all good! i was extatic! until he hit me with the bill.....$209! *clears throat* ok then lol. i'm just gald there's nothing to worry about. after all... she is my baby and you can't put a price on that.

So glad to hear it was nothing more serious I was in the same predicament with Precious and her torn tendon when the doc told me she had to take it easy for 6 WEEKS! As it turns out, we were able to keep her in the kitchen with the baby but this little girl will not be held down for long. Please keep us posted!
