OK, quick tip, go talk to your local butchers. Explain the situation to them, ask them if they would mind you having the "left overs" from the freezers. They have to pay to have any meat/bones that aren't sold taken away so your actually doing them a favour. We recently went to the butchers and stocked up the cats freezer with: Chicken backs Chicken gizzards Ox heart Chicken kindey Turkey kidney Chicken head/feet Turkey head/feet Pig tail Pig head Goat head Pig hocks Duck wings Chicken necks Duck necks And a few other random things (rabbit hocks and the like) All for free from the butchers. One of our cats is 17lb's, fairly active and a moggy. He eats about 5oz of food per day. The other two cats are 8lb's and 10lb's and eat 3oz per day.

I agree...avoid Nutro. It's no longer rumors, it's fact...FDA is investigating Nutro for cat deaths. I have removed Orijen from my house. Although the company states the 27 cat deaths in Australia were only from irradiation at that location only, I know of two cats in my area that are having the same neurological symtpoms & one may have to be euthanized, both cats ate Orijen. No proof yet, but too much of a coincidence for me.

I only know one butcher in my area and I've already emailed him. I told him I needed meat he would normally throw out and he said he only has prime cuts and doesn't have anything else. Rah!

Well what decisions have you made on kibble?
Also, if you would be willing to PM me your zip code, I will try and find you some cheap/free meat sources.. I've helped people in the past and may be able to help you as well.
