Alrighty, down to business. Copy and paste the following into the first post of your update thread. Fill it out and continue to post all updates on your "furkid(s)" progress in that thread:
1. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names, ages, genders, and do they have any health problems (this is VERY important)?
Two
Well you already know about Beast (who will be a year old in TWO DAYS) Hes a sable with a hersheys kiss nose (aww)
Bastien is the Newest addition to the family, hes 11 weeks and has no apparent health problems, hes a male.
2. What are your ferrets currently eating? Include their main diet, plus any treats or supplements (such as duk soup).
Beast eats a raw whole prey diet and has been since he was about 3 months old he doesnt need to switch anything this thread is for Bastien.
Bastien was eating marshalls kibble yesterday (BLECH they need to take that CRAP off the market) But this morning i gave him some pork covered in kibble dust since he didnt get the idea that it was food when Beast was eating. I';m working on switching him to the same diet Beast is on.
3. What kind of diet do you want to switch to?
Raw and Whole prey. (see above)
4. Why do you want to switch to this more natural diet?
Because kibble is the devil.(teehee =x)
5. Where/what/who got you interested in natural diets?
Internet search for what... Who would be Beast =P (giggle giggle hah)
6. Please list the current weight for your ferret(s). Do they appear overweight? Underweight? How is there muscle tone?
Beast looks under weight but hes always been really lean hes got lots of energy and good muscle tone though.
Bastien is a mini chubster, hes a little on the tubby side and clumsy but hes still a baby hes got a decent amount of energy (not as much as beast, but we'll fix that)
7. What is the condition of your ferret's teeth/gums? (can you get a picture?)
Beasts are white and opaque, not worn at all he still looks like hes a kit on the inside of his mouth.
Bastien has baby chompers and they look decently white (not as white as beasts but eh we'll fix that hes been eating marshalls)
8. Describe the texture/color of your ferrets coat.
Beast is sleek and shiny hes in the middle of a shed right now though (His first!!)
Bastien is a fuzzy baby kit its soft and fluffy
9. How often does your ferret go to the bathroom?
Beast couple of times a day.
Bastien went about once ever couple of hours.
10. Does your ferret's feces and/or urine smell?
Beasts urine is a little potent if i dont scoop the litter box out but other than that theres really not much of an odor and oh god Bastien REEKS!
11. Smell your ferret. How strong is their odor?
Beast has a very very mild ferret smell.
The cute smell i fell in love with when i got Beast nearly gagged me on Bastien yesterday
12. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being completely lethargic and 10 being "through the roof!" what is your ferret's energy level?
Beast: 99
Bastien:10
13. How excited is your ferret about meal time (when fed kibble)?
I dont know how bastien got at feeding time, he didnt look too interested in the kibble that was in the cage when i bought him yesterday.
Beast hasnt eaten kibble in 6 months hes not going to but you should see him bounce if you have banana laffy taffy or anything else hes not supposed to have..
14. Have you attempted to switch from kibble to a natural diet in the past? If so, what methods have you tried. Be specific.
Beast was switched using the cut up chicken chunks coated inkibble then when he ate that mostly trial and error until we found a feeding schedule that worked for us(brian said eat or die method and it made me laugh so here it is for you guys).
Bastien will be switched using the eat or die method. (it works better?)
Kidding kidding he started on pork chunks dusted in kibble this morning.
15. What other information about your ferret(s) would you like to share?
My ferrets are tormented by three dogs and a Brian. But they seem to be happy if the war dancing and dooking is any indicator
16. If you can, please post a clear photograph of EACH of your ferrets directly below:
Bastien and his Daddy =P
Beast =)
