You can serve him any meat that you like. Just make sure that it's not processed. He likes chicken, right? So, you could feed, quail (my guys love this), turkey, duck (this has a stronger flavour), my guys like pork, beef is another. Anything. When I first started I just sliced a little meat off what I was serving myself that night. The ultimate idea, is to get your little fellow to eat it, with bone. So once he starts eating larger pieces then you start finding meats with bone included. Most start with chicken wings (my guys don't like wings but enjoy chicken necks, these are a little cheaper than wings too) That's the nice thing about feeding raw. It's very flexible and as long as you remember the base necessity, you can do anything within that parameter (it's fairly wide as it's balance over time ) You and Duke are doing great. Good luck, and I will check in with you tomorrow. ciao

Ohhh, you guys are doing so well. Give Duke a big hug from me. What a little sweety. Ok. Yes, to the bone. That is our ultimate goal. To be healthy your mix has to have bone in it, uncooked bone. Now your little guy is doing so well, let's try an experiment. Do you have any chicken necks, or wings? If you do, what I want you do do is, if it's a chicken neck, give it a good smack with a hammer (to break up the bone), if it's a wing there should be two bones split it in half or if it's small just smack it with a hammer to break up the bone. Then offer Duke the smacked meat and bone. Now, don't be too hard on yourself if he doesn't take to it right away, give him a big hug if he even ackowledges it as food . Leave him to smell it and play with it, stash it. You can play tug with him with it (if you don't mind handling meat, we have some people who don't like handling meat and they wear gloves) He will then get pieces of it in his mouth and hopefully will swallow it. That's your experiment Processed meats are ham, sausages, hot dogs, bologna...meats like that. They have been cured or salted, not good for Duke You can add any raw meat you like to his soupy mix. At the moment what do you add to his soupy? The idea, eventually for him to eat his meat as meat...naked So you can offer him a couple of tiny pieces and see if he will eat the meat without the soupy. I will check in with you later this evening. ciao

Ok, sounds good. Let's try one more thing to add to their soupy. You don't have to add it today, so don't sweat it The next time you use an egg, take the shell rinse it out, let it dry and then grind it to a powder. I use a mortar and pestle but a lot of people use their coffee grinder. I don't know how much soupy you make at one time after all it's only for Duke but you use about 1/2 tsp per 1 cup of food. This will add calcium to his diet which at the moment is probably there in only limited amounts from the duk soup. The egg shell will be the replacement for the bone that your guy isn't eating at the moment. Other than that, you're doing fantastic and so is Duke. Keep it up and you're little guy will be eating his more natural diet in no time ciao

ok. i bought some organic chicken, and organic beef, sadly there is no bones. there weren't any organic chicken wings at publix. so im going to have to go to the WHOLE FOOD STORE. i tried to get DUke to eat ONLY the RAW beef, but he refused to play with it or eat, i guess beacuse its a different brand? anyways i put it in his soup, he didn't eat much, but i do have bunches of more. the brand i think, is called "green way" it more pricy then the other meat.
soooo, im going to feed him soup 2 times tommarrow, noon and night.\
but, i got a few QS again
1. Is it bad that i didn't get any meats with bones? 2. Can i get Duke to try the RAW chicken in his soup at noon, and get him to try the RAW Beef in his soup at night? or will that ruion the RAW feeding process?
3. About the egg? its kinda confusing, after i dry the shell off, doi crack the egg and get rid of the yoke, and then grind the shell? if you can answer these for me i will be more then happy and thanks!

No, you won't mess up his raw feeding process by feeding different proteins. As you've already seen that he's not allergic to the beef, then you can add chicken to his diet too. It's not bad that you didn't get meat with bones but we will have to find a method of getting some calcium into him. We will eventually have to find some meat with small bones in it for him to learn how to eat it or special order ground meat and bone mix from an online distributor or a specialty pet food store. This leads us to the egg thing. Make yourself an omelet or bake a cake and save the egg shells. Wash out the empty egg shells and let them dry. Once they're dry then grind them up. 1/2 tsp of ground egg shell to one cup or 8 oz or 1/2 lb of meat. This will at least give him some calcium until we can get him eating bone. Let me know if you have any questions, good luck and I hope that he will eat more of his raw soupy tomorrow. ciao

I don't think they grind them up fine enough but honestly I'm not sure. I know that some people use those little coffee grinders (up here you can pick them up for under $30). As I don't use egg shell very often, I just use a mortar and pestle that I normally grind my herbs and medicines with and just use some arm power The finer the powder the more likely they will eat it. I find if the chunks are too large they just won't even consider the meat that it's dusted on. You want it like dust vs crumbs. Clear as mud I will check in with you later in the day. ciao

well, just an hour ago, i fed Duke RAW chicken in his soup, he ate some of teh chunks, pretty good for eating something he never tried, i did, grinded up the egg i kep crushing it until it was like dust, i added it to the soup. Tonight hes eating RAW beef in his soup, hopefully he'll eat it. ok, i have another question i had alot of crushed egg shell powder left, am i allowed to save the rest so i won't waste another egg, or will it go bad? i just want to make sure.

That is fantastic....yay Duke Got to love that chicken Ok, yes....take the powdered egg shell and put it in a baggy and stick it in the freezer. Use it as needed It's really simple that one. Good luck with the beef, hopefully he will eat that too. You're on your way. I will check in with you later. ciao
