As most of you know, I got a very frightened baby fuzz a couple of weeks ago. Heather- you're advice about the treat in one hand when I scoop her up was great! It's worked wonders We can now pick her up(albeit quickly) almost any time, without getting bit. For the most part, she generally has quit shaking and trembling every time we touch her. We can also pick her up for a few seconds for a quick scritch and kiss without the treat What I'm doing now is trying to keep her up for a second or two past her comfort level, but putting her down before she outright panics because she can't get away. Any other ideas on what steps to take next?

I would bring back the treat again but try and find a chewy one that she can bite pieces off (of course it may be that she will get a mouthfull and fight to be put down so that she eat it quietly somewhere else ) in which case an alternative bribe will have to be found . Squiggly still isn't there as far as just picking him up on the fly and snuggling him. I can do it but it's still got to be quick and it's more to do with his nature than his comfort level. He's rather like an ADHD child, to hold him still is very traumatic for him. I do hold him but I make sure I'm moving, then he's interested on where he's going and doesn't mind being held. If I stop there's nothing interesting happening and he want's down to go investigate on his own. For him life is about motion, if he's not moving, he's sleeping. You've done wonderful things with your little fuzzbutt. You realize that she will become very special to you. I find that the ones that require all this work become very much a part of you. Just a word of warning ciao

Thanks, Heather! I'll try to find some jerky strips for her. I've tried Ziwipeak, and she doesn't care for it, but I can get some of the Dogswell stuff here, so I'll give that a shot.
