Aww... rodents aren't scavengers, per se... They are "opportunists"... I also agree for the most part that predators should eat "prey"... not other predators. Although I would HAPPILY offer up a snake to my fert... afterall she's related to a mongoose somewhere in there, right?

I think what goes into breeding snakes would deter most people from breeding them to feed to the ferrets. One of my life goals is to be a reptile breeder. I would not mind feeding off snakes that would not survive to adulthood (babies with deformities, ect) but not a healthy individual. I just put too much work into my snakes for that.
I do want to breed other things for my ferrets. When my husband and I eventually own our own home I will be breeding the following for my ferrets' food:
Chickens Button Quail Rabbits Rats Mice Some kind of lizard (Anoles?) Some kind of frog Guinea pigs Hamsters Gerbils
