I agree with Jaycee, in fact if you'd prefer you can even make your own chicken broth (so its sodium free, not just low sodium) this is not a requirement, just an option if you are interested. If you do infact make your own broth, make it without any seasonings and make a big batch and put the extra bits into ice cube trays and freeze. Its good stuff to have on hand

Hey, I just wanted to let you know you are doing a very good job. It is hard in the beginning to start the switch, but once a ferret begins on the switch it becomes easier (if that makes any sence whatsoever) I just recently switched 10 of mine over, and am currently switching two more of mine over. I am with you every step of the way, so we can do this together! I know what it is like switching stubborn ferrets!

Just wanted to post an update. I have been giving nibbles the wet food, with increase a little more water. She has been eating but she seems like she isn't eating as much as she used to. I did read the previous post so I will try getting some chicken broth tomorrow and including that as part of her kibble. I will update once I try the chicken broth.

Good luck, and be tough. I think they like to test us from time to time (or all the time if you are talking about mine). Try the broth, but you may have to spoon feed to get Nibbles going. Mine actually mope around until I spoon feed. I think they like the attention...and again they are probably testing me to see if I give in to the kibble. .......say no to the dark side!

She ate some of the kibble with the chicken broth. She seems to like the broth because she was licking it but when I put a little bit in a dish to see if she would like it plain she didn't want anything to do with it. Should I continue doing the broth and kibble? I'm going to continue to add the broth to the kibble until its a mush. Is there be anything else that I need to do?

Try adding a little ground chicken into the kibble-mush and see how that goes.

I will have to go an pick some more up ground chicken my cats have ate all of it. I have quail ground but not sure if that would be good with the chicken broth. I will probably be able to go get some more on Friday or Saturday. The place where I get the ground food isn't very close to my house. I might try to see if she will just eat the quail by itself. Maybe she will like that more then the ground chicken. I will keep you updated once I get more chicken.

I would try the quail...I'm sure it would probably be fine with the broth. Heck. It has to be better than that kibble...bleh! You can always grind it up in a processor just like the chicken.

I tried the quail last night with the mixing with the kibble and the chicken broth. I'm pretty sure she didn't touch it. I have to hide the mixure in her hiding spot because the other animals here will try to eat it. It didn't look like she touched it all. She loves the chicken broth she drinks that up pretty much plain but I don't know if its so mush once the food gets soft she doesn't like it or what. I'm just feeling really defeated (don't worry I'm not going to give up, I know it takes time). I was hoping she would have been one of the easiest to change over. I know it takes time but she doesn't seem to be taking to it all at. I have some piece of chicken that I'm going to cut for my other animals and see if she might like that with the chicken broth. I did get some ground meat today but its turkey they didn't have any chicken.

Grrr.....I just was in the middle of typing your response, and my computer decided to shut down. Ok, here is what I would do. I would warm up some of the chicken broth and then add a little (little) bit of the ground turkey and mix it up until the turkey...."disolves" in the kibble (does that make sence???) Then have them drink the broth/turkey mixture (which will be mostly just liquid) Thicken and add more meat as they improve with the broth mixture. Hang in there, you are doing great!

I'm going to try that tomorrow. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the turkey though because my cats aren't eating it. I don't know what could be wrong with it. Today I put some chunk chicken in a dish for her and she wasn't having. I then put some chicken broth in with it. She has that right now so I will check in a little while to see if she has touched it.
By the way what is the best way to make a mush, the food I have for Nibbles seems to be very hard. It takes a really long time for it to get soft in the broth. Is that normal? What I mean by a long time is over a half hour or longer.
Again thanks for all your help.

If you are talking about making a kibble mush, the best way I have found is to take a large microwaveable bowl and pour some of the kibble into it. Then pour a good amount of the broth onto the kibble and then microwave it for 15 to 20 seconds. Let it sit for a few minutes (so no hot spots) if you are giving the soft food directly to the ferrets. If you are adding meat into the mix, you can blend the warmed broth kibble mixture and then add the chicken and blend again.

That sound like that will help a lot. I will try that next time I give her some broth/kibble.
