Hello Giuli,
Wanted to check in and give you an update. I chopped a thigh yestuday with the bones and I noticed that if I chop the bones into small bites than they eat them. Which I am happy about, when I have then in larger bits they would not touch them so I am all about taking it slow. I will check in again when I can.

Wonderful! That is great news to hear that they are finally taking to the bones. I am sure that over time you can gradually work them up in size so that they are eating whole bones. Just be sure that the bone chunks aren't so small that the ferrets try to swallow them whole and then choke. Make them just big enough that they need to crunch them once or twice before swallowing (think the size of kibble, or ideally bigger). Got any pics of them eating? I'd love to see the munchkins going to town on raw. Good to hear from you.

Hi Giuli, Sadly I lost my father on monday. This week I lef them with the babysitters. I did pack up for the babies turkey chunks with bones so i am hoping that they are doing good. I figured since the sitter has not called me yet they are doing good. I love hearing them crunch on the bones I can tell that they are really getting into eating the marrow. So Happy. They had a great after thanksgiving sale so cleaned them out of turkey pieces and organs talk to you soon, Avigail

My ferrets hate turkey. I MAKE then eat it one day a moth, but other then that I just avoid it. No worries, just like people, ferrets have their likes and dislikes.

Hello giuli,
LOL I am glad that they were not the only ferrets that did not like Turkey.
I know that I have not been online so much I am trying to get back out there and be more social it is hard thank you for not giving up on me. I am still doing the chicken thing. So far I have not had luck with other meats any suggestions of what to try next. So far they did not like the turkey or liver

Its okay. I wont give up on you. I can tell you are doing the best you can. It doesnt matter how long it takes, I'll help ya. I would try pork or beef. Many ferrets seem to really like these meats. What you can do is cut the meat into little tiny pieces and smother in ferretone and offer them as treats. OR you can puree it in a blender and add this "gravy" onto whole chicken. OR you can take tiny pieces of this meat and chop it up with tiny pieces of chicken, mix them all together in a bowel and serve. If none of these methods work, don't fret. Just let me know and we'll find another method to try. I have many tricks up my sleeves.

Hi Giuli, I discovered that the supermarket "HMart" carries chicken hearts in a pack with only hearts and a few livers and chicken drums with the bones that are already cut on the bias, I was so happy to find that place. So I started giving them that with a quail egg and they are gobling it up. i also got them the igloo that you suggested and that is working out great. They are doing great. that is all for now. I will try adding other meats next time I got to the store. Avigail

Wonderful! I'm happy to hear you found a good local supplier for some of your raw foods. Its a great feeling, isn't it? Glad to hear the igloo is working out. My guys love theirs. It helps to capitalize on their naturaly "caching" instincts. Keep me posted.

Hi Giuli,
I know that I have not signed on in a while I appreciate the fact that you still have my thread active. The babies are still eating the chicken thighs. I noticed that lately they are not eating as much. I am wondering if they are bored? I would not be surprised. I feel bad but lately my head has just not been there. I just wanted to give you an update.

The amount of food that ferrets eat varies depending on the time of year. Its usually a gradual transitionf or less to more food or vice versa.
