We picked up a chub of NV chicken/Turkey for Arthas and Nyx to try cause I'm having a hard time getting her back up to anything more than soup. It's defrosting.
The liver is marked for us at my moms place, but i don't have it quite yet. And I'll portion it out as to not give them more than 2 oz a week.
Have a good holiday!! I'll let you know how the turkey goes when we get some.

I have 30lbs of turkey in my fridge, and a 25 lb turkey in my freezer. lol. It took us a few days to get the ones my friend had for me. And they were freeee! If we get the chest freezer I found on CL then I will go to the store and pick up a few more. The ferts seem to like turkey so far. And the dog gets gas with anything not bird related.
We fed dog and ferrets NV turkey/chicken chub and they all LOVED it! Woot woot!! Nyx and Arthas now have a 30lb bag of Evo Feline, cause they're both doing well on that for their morning meal. They still get meat in the evenings.Arthas gets chunks, and Nyx gets soupie. (Better than just kibble 24/7. I'm just happy Nyx is doing well.)
We're switching Shadow (dog) to a raw supplemental diet, and then long term will be raw 24/7. He's on evo+canidae kibble in the morning and raw or NV in evenings. I'm lurking in the dog forum just haven't posted yet!
This past weekend was the kickoff for xmas sales in my store, so my hours are up to 50-65 hr work weeks right now. I *am* still present in the forum, just, less often. My time at home is spent cleaning cages and playing with my pets and fosters.

Sounds like everything is going well. I'm happy to hear that shadow will be making the switch to raw. On a side note, my animals all HATE turkey, isn't it funny that your guys love it? So, are they eating raw meaty bones yet? If so, who?

Rex, Bo, and Khad are giving me a little grumpiness on the NV today but they'll still eat it once they realize I'm not puttin meat in the bowl. Jaina loves it. Arthas cannot get enough of it. Nyx will eat it if handfed, so that's awesome. She looks and feels so much happier now. And she's faster than ANY of the others... Bullet-ferret! Bones they've only had chicken so far. If i break them in half, the troop of 4 will all snack on then RMBs. (I score the meat so they can get a grip on it.) They haven't had any turkey bones yet. Jaina LOOOVES her bones and gets mad when the boys try to take them away from her! She is the only one that's figured out that she can gnaw on the bones herself, if I don't pre-break them. haha the girls are always quicker (Z glares at me.) Arthas and Nyx wont eat the bones. Arthas will strip the meat off them and eat the marrow if I break the bone in half but he wont crunch em himself. (And I've tried using a hammer to crunch em down even more. He will ONLY eat small bone chunks if it's in a soupie, all blended up. So that's what I've been doing for him and nyx. They also get more eggshell than the others to make up for it a little bit. It's so nice to see all my pets enjoying meat.

Bones they've only had chicken so far. If i break them in half, the troop of 4 will all snack on then RMBs. (I score the meat so they can get a grip on it.) They haven't had any turkey bones yet. Don't be suprised if they dont eat the turkey bones. The only parts of the turkey (bone) that they can really consume is the turkey tails, turkey necks, and sometimes the radius and ulna in the turkey wing. Jaina LOOOVES her bones and gets mad when the boys try to take them away from her! She is the only one that's figured out that she can gnaw on the bones herself, if I don't pre-break them. haha the girls are always quicker (Z glares at me.)That is wonderful! Go Jaina! I'm so proud! Arthas and Nyx wont eat the bones. They also get more eggshell than the others to make up for it a little bit.The fact that Arthas will eat the marrow is a good sign! Don't worry, he'll get around to eating bigger pieces in time. I'd just keep breaking the bone in half. One of these days he might just start crunching on his own . As for adding extra eggshell, perfect! Just be sure you don't add *too* much. 1tsp per 8oz of meat. It's so nice to see all my pets enjoying meat. Its a wonderful feeling, isn't it? I'm so proud of your guys.

We FINALLY got the caging set up in the garage!! (It's insulated, and if the temp gets below mid 50s in there we bring em upstairs to the playpen for the day/night. We're watching this very closely.) They seem to like having the room to stretch out, while mom's not home. There's more bedding in there than ever before, just cause I'm overly paranoid about the 10 degree lower temp. (My house is generally kept at low 60s.) And I've worked long enough in animal care to know that they are JUST fine, I'm just a worry wart Nothin extreme to post on the food front. Nyx cannot get enough of the Evo which makes me a happy mom. She's chowin down on that in the morning (without my help now!) and NV chub in evenings (with some convincing.) Today was weekly groom/nails/health check and I was pleased to have 6 FUUUZZY, fluffy, ferrets, and one non-gassy dog. Thank goodness for Raw!!! (And thank goodness for you, and HF Forums!!)

I'm really happy to hear that you are enjoying the benefits of a raw diet. Atleast Nyx is eating SOMETHING. Have you tried adding water to the EVO (to keep her hydrated and to reduce wear on her teeth) or have you tried that already and she didn't like that? I can't remember.

Yep, we add a little bit of water in it. (warm water with chicken/turkey base from our food for the other ferts.) She wont let me mash it up, but she will eat the wet kibble. She is also very attentive to her water dish and water bottle, which is helpful. I put the turkey neck in last night, and NO ONE touched it!! I'm surprised, because I thought they would love it. I broke it into three pieces, but they are all still connected by flesh. Oh well. At least I only had one neck to give this time around

When I got oxtails for my guys (about the same size as turkey necks) I thought they'd love them. But they hated them. I was so bummed. Oh well, lol, they know what they like and I guess my guys didnt like the ox tails and your guys didnt like the necks. I'm glad to hear you are moistening the EVO.

I spoke too soon, apparently! I went down to take out the neck later that morning and all's I found were 4 vertebrae! I was so amused. Khadgar likes playing with them, but wont eat them. (The vertebrae, that is. I'm pretty sure he ate some of the meat.) They do NOT like the organs, so I'll prob have to make a thick/chunky soup out of their weekly organ portion+some regular meat. I'd read a lot about the organ thing and a lot of ferts not liking the organs by themselves. They (all 6) love the NV chub right now. It seems to go in phases, I think.
The cages are separated back into their regular FN142 status-- they aren't connected right now since we moved them. It's a long story, but now all 6 ferts are in one cage and are SOO happy! (And I am too-- no more litter box accidents!) I'll take new photos and put them in my caging thread. There's so much bedding in there it's insaaaane..
I'll be happy when xmas is finally over so I can stop working 14 hour days. I miss my furkids.

Meat Sale Shopping yesterday. -4lbs of turkey necks (which they seem to like now, and the dog does too.) -6lbs of turkey wings -6lbs of cornish game hen (woot woot! New meat!) -one 5lb whole chicken -and two 2lb NV chicken chubs. Everything except the chub came to $14!! And Shadow is loving the meat as much as the ferrets are. Nyx is the only one still doing evo mostly. But she will eat some of the meat scraps if she's alone, and she still likes her chub. We put her in another FN for 1/2 hour three times a day to get her own food, and then she fends for herself the rest of the day with the 5 others.

I took some photos of a few ferts eatin' natural with an xmas background, but did not get them onto my computer in time to submit for the photo contest. I'll prob post them anyways, when I get to my home comp. I'm stuck in the other end of the city, near my work. The busses are not running right now to get me back home, and haven't been in almost a week. Z is taking care of the fuzzbutts, and the dog. I miss them terribly. He says there are no changes-- everyone is enjoying the meats. Nyx has put on some weight since I last saw her, apparently. She's a speedy ferret now!! Fastest of the group when running around.
