Wolf must be adorable- cant wait to see the pics!!!! I just tried some Ziwipeak - my brats think it sucks. They ate a little at they've decided it's not real meat!!!! I think the chicory syrup is a it over-the-edge for their taste buds, although a lot of ferrts love Ziwipeak. This is the first meat thing my brats have decided they don't like Crumble th ziwipeak and wysongs up into fine bits when you mix it in with the kibble. In fact, you might want to store some freeze-dried food in with the kibble. This will make each type of food smell less distinguishable from the other. The kibble and freezedried will be harder for Kat to tell apart . We'll corrupt her yet!!!! You can also put out a small bow of water during play time and mix a little meat baby food in it. You can also put the baby food on her tongue. Also let her small all kinds of weird things... during play time as well....we need to try to raise her level of curiosity! And, yes, ferret do learn to SPIT!!!!!! Poor little Kat, we're getting quite a few chuckles from her antics- I'm sure she'd be very annoyed that we're amused at the expense of her dignity!!!! ANother thing you want to start doing with Kat is rubbing the sides of her faceand near her mouh. just hold her on her back and gentlely rub her face like a mom would be washing the food from her baby's face. This is a grooming thing. If done correctly, the ferrt will relax and start yawning. This is a strong bonding and enrichment exercise. AFter Kat get all honked off about having meat in her mouth, reward her with some nice relaxing grooming. she may even like the face pet with a warm, slightly moist wash cloth. Let me know if you can get Kat to relax and yawn. We need to get her responding to enrichments. It should be fun for both of you. -jennifer

Oh how sweet!!!! That's what the rescue and adoption place doe here in Denver - they take in the unwanted ferrets, feed them well and give them medical attention (even surgeries) as well as any emotional rehabbing, and they adopt them out when the little guys are ready for a good home. It's a lot of work very rewarding but also heart -breaking at times. The place in Denver adopted a little girl who had been thrown against the wall when she bit this woman's husband. The poor little thing has a long road ahead of her for emotional recovery. She's fine pysically, but she's terrified of people. Then there was the ferret that was found taped up in a box and thrown in the dumpster. Somebody heard scratchng noises from the dumpter. People can REALLY SUCK -jennifer

Hi!!! Apologies for not responding sooner - I've been on the road this past week expecting to have internet access - no such luck! But I'm back now. How is Kat the brat doing with her met? Any luck with the shredded freeze-ried in the kibble??? How about the meat on the tongue? I'm hoping we've made a little progress with the freeze-dried. You need t o be persistent with Kat - after all, she knows she's the princess! -jennifer

Oh cool, it sounds like the ittle princess is making a little progress... Have you stried storing a little of thcrummbled freeze-dried raw in a ziplock baggie with kibble for several days before serving it to her? The smells will mingle. Keep after her with the meat on the tongue. I think she'll eventually decide it's OK, although she'll probably always fuss when she's force fed just beause she's the princess. My little Princess chomped on me today since I ignored her plea be picked up while I was talking on the phone So after she chops into me, what do I do? ? I pick her up, which is exactly what she wanted OK, so I'm a sucker -jennifer

With the stubborn ferre, you commonly need to create a food deficit (let them get a little hungry) to get them to switch. Feed less kibble and a higgher percentage of the freeze-dried mixed in. Of course you only want to do this is your ferret is at a good weight and in good health. This technique works well once the ferret understands that the raw food is edible. You can either withhold al kibble for 12 hours or provide a small amount of kibble. Try the zip-lock bags, and once you get the kibble and freeze-dried raw smaelling the same, cut back on the amount of kibble. Too bad you can't shove some meat in her mouth when she goes to bite you -jennifer
