Didjeridu is a freak for hunting now. I had a HUGE rubber maid container for him to hunt in. The other day I had him kill 6 young rats but didn't give him any to eat. I took the rats out of the room, took him out of the container, and put the lid back on. He scratched at the rubber maid for about 30 minutes straight wondering where his food and rat friends had gone! As you know, 2 minutes is a long attention span for a ferret.... but 30! He was determined!

I'm sorry to hear that Beast ate his dinner before you were ready. I keep my mice and my ferrets in different places. I couldn't possibly let them cohabitate in the same room. I've got too many efficient killers. Like you found out it takes them only seconds to get and finish the job I'm nervous enough about the fact that the cat prowls the basement looking for mice all the time but thus far he's left my tubs alone and he hasn't stressed the mice by sitting on top of their enclosures. It could be because there are enough wild mice getting in this year, it's been a really bad year for mice coming in out of the cold It at least keeps the guys happy for snacks I think my rodent boys have another couple of weeks and then they're going to be invited to dinner. They're all kept in their separate space and are eating tons and getting fat. That will give me another space to allow a few more of my girls to meet a new male friend and open another space for the newest arrivals who will probably be ready for weaning in a few weeks. ciao

I'm so sorry for the loss of your little furfriend Poor Beast, he was only doing what he knows how to do and what you wanted him to do, he just chose the wrong one . This becomes a very difficult game to play when you keep both predator and prey as furbabies. You really do have my deepest sympathies, I can't imagine how it must be to have had your favourite fuzzie kill one of your favourite mousies. I will light a candle for your little mouse babies....good luck in whatever way you decide to continue to play this. It must truly be difficult decision and crossroad for you. ciao

I think i am going to try again as soon as i modify Beasts travel cage into a mousie habitat (i'm putting mesh on the bars so the meeses cannot get out and the beasty cannot get in. In the same 24 hours that he killed my mice he also killed my laptop so the last few days have been a little rough on me i was about one more escaping incident from selling him on ebay. *grumbles* but i fixed his cage. After the mice i was on my way to get extra latches to attach to his cage when he got out and killed my computer. We dont as yet know whats wrong with it but i will let you know when i get more females and will update you on the computer thing the good news is my mom is going to let me use her dell when she gets her new laptop until i can afford my own. whoo hoo.
