My name is Keri, and I'll be adopting Meli's two boys soon!
I currently have one six year old sable girl named Trouble. Trial, a DEW male, passed away in July at the age of eight. He was also deaf, allergic to chicken and prone to ulcers, but it appeared to be bone cancer that finally took him to the bridge. Trick, an albino male, followed him in September at the age of nine or more, from advanced adrenal. Trouble has also begun Lupron recently.
Shortly before Trick passed, I adopted two kittens, Pandemonium and DoZo, not wanting Trouble to be without other furry friends for the first time her life, and not sure at the time I was ready for more ferrets. I swore that would be the end of the furred family, but... everyone knows how THAT goes! In the last couple weeks I'd already begun poking around the shelter websites (ferrets are relatively few up here, just like... well, everything but trees and deer) and watching the bulletin boards, but when I saw Hocus and Pocus...
I am the catalog designer for the Small Pet, Reptile, and Ferret titles at Drs. Foster and Smith in Rhinelander, WI. I also have leopard geckos, toads, hermit crabs, freshwater planted aquariums, and a guinea pig, Polyphony. Before the ferrets, I had several beloved rats. You can see plenty of photos of my fuzzies, and just about everyone else, in product photos on the website! Of course, I am posting here only on a personal level as a ferrant.
I am so excited to be adding natural eaters to the family. Trouble already loves bits of cooked meats and enjoys a Nature's Variety patty if made appropriately soupy. Currently her main diet is feline EVO mixed with DFS, as well as snacks of Archetype-1. I would be happy to give her mostly Archetype, but it appears that much protein makes for a slimy litterbox. I am hoping she will transition without much of a fight, since she's not very picky for her age.
I've done a great deal of research about a raw diet, but it's so helpful to have a resource like this forum. I already recognize some names from other places around the internet.
Many settling-in pictures and updates to come!
In the meantime, here's a photo from work of my gang when they were all together.
