Hello! I happened on this board from ferret.com forum and have found it to be very informative and everyone is so nice I decided to finally introduce myself. My name is Jamie and I live in Texas near Dallas. I currently own two ferrets, Mica who'll be 7 in Jan, and Snap who is 4 now I think. I also have a papillon, Piper who loves her "babies" so much! Mica is my little princess and one of my two very first ferrets. When I decided I wanted ferrets in 2001 I spent almost three months researching online about them and reading everything I could. I then had to convince my mom, who I was living with at the time. After presenting all my research she easliy said was, which was shocking. I've always been an animal lover and have owner various animals. I found my first two from an online add and the guy who owned them was moving into an apartment and couldn't keep them, so I took them both, Mica and her brother Tazz. Tazz passed away two years ago from cancer. I also adopted an albino girl named Lilah from a family who bought her for their son but she just lived in the garage with little to no interaction. She was a biter, not too bad, and quickly learned that is was not nice. She passed away after surgery. Snap I received from a co worker who bought him on a whim and didn't have any cage or anything. I was only going to keep him a few days and it turned in to years. I have worked at veterinary clinics off and on since I was sixteen and am a Registered Veterinary Technician. I have never had the chance to work in one that had a ferret vet. Mica and Snap are currently on Evo and I just started mixing in Wellness Core after reading some of the boards. I am very interested in Holistic care since that's what I used for myself. My papillon is also on a more natural diet of Merrick canned and Nature's Valley frozen. The ferrets used to be on Totally ferret and I found the Evo ferret and decided to try it and right away saw a difference. They loved the taste better and after weeks of the new food their coats where thick and soft. My local pet store recently stopped carrying the Evo ferret and I switched them back to Totally ferret, not realizing I could use the feline or even the canine formula, and their coats changed, and they didn't like it as much. I will never do that to them again. I am interested in a raw diet, but will probably read more about it. I look forward to learning more from everyone on these boards. I will post pictures of my kids soon.
Thanks!
