Once I get to the store so today or tomorrow. Could I try a thigh instead of a wing though? I have some pretty boney chicken thighs right now that I could start him on.

You can try it, I don't know how he would do trying to start out on harder bones though.

Ok...I think Chewie may have some mental issue....JK, but I guess he must really love his new diet cause... he ate the smaller bones and tried chewing on the big one!!!! Gosh I am so exstatic that he switched this fast. I'm not going to get too excited yet cause maybe he was having a crazy day...I don't know...Anyways for now I'm so proud!!! And just in time for the surgery if he gets one he'll be a lot healthier than he would on his kibble!! No more $25 a month for just him!!

Great now that he is eating bone its time to structure a weekly feeding schedule for him like you died with Oliver: Raw Meaty Bones 4 Days per Week (atleast) Bonless Muscle Meat 2 Days per Week (you can add powdered eggshell powder---1tsp per 8oz of meat----for additional calcium and fiber) Organ Meat One Day per Week (Liver, Kidney, Pancreas, Thymus. Can also include gizzards and hearts but these are "technically" organs) Work on getting Chewie eating atleast 3 different kinds of meat (as in beef, chicken, pork etc) Let us know how it goes get him used to organ meat and other meats. Go slow, don't overwhelm him with a ton of variety all at once, just get him on a new meat and then the next week add organ meat or another meat, etc, etc until he's eating the organs 1x per week and then the 3 types of meat. Keep us posted!

I have a question...What kind of meat is the boneless muscle meat and where does the boney meat fall into place?
So I introduced Mr.Chewie to liver and he ate two!!! I got some pics that I'll post in a bit!! Yay!! He hasn't had any kibble for 3 days!! Yay!!

You can use any boneless meat, chicken, pork, beef, lamb, turkey.. Even chicken and beef hearts are great, they are high in taurine and wouln't cause problems if you fed them a couple days each week. Most people feed boneless by itself twice a week.
How's Chewie doing now?

Chewie's doing awesome!! Chewing on bones, eating meat, eating liver, etc. Ok sorry I've been gone so long!! I will have a hard time being able to get on the computer for a while (not sure how long) cause I'll be pretty busy, but it shouldn't last more than a month. Ok here's the form I needed to fill out:
a.) Do you understand that by starting this thread you commit to posting updates on the progress of your ferret(s) diet switch atleast every other day? Yes! Absolutely! I would be scared not to post during the switch
b.) Do you understand that if you will be away from your computer for an extended period of time you will need to exchange phone numbers (or email addresses if you don't feel comfortable exchanging numbers) via private message with your assigned mentor, so that we can monitor your progress and ensure your ferret's saftey during the switch? (Please post below letting us know that you and your mentor have exchanged phone numbers or emails) I'll pm you and tss my cell
c.) Do you understand that any threads that have not been updated in for more then a week (with no explaination as to why you are absent) will result in the deletion of the thread? Yes
I read and saw the information.
Also tss and Giuli check out my "Vet Visit" form!!!

what is he currently eating? How much are you feeding him? Is he eating bones yet? Organs?
Eating bedding and paper is not a good sign, that is a recipie for an intestinal blockage, we need to find out why he is doing that and put a stop to that behavior immediately.

He is currently eating chicken, legs, thighs, liver, and wings. Between him and Oliver the usually eat a whole leg including the bone, plus some, a day (or a whole thigh plus some etc.). Chewie eats most of it though. Yes he is eating bones too. I am giving him ferret lax right now to help it go through and trying to see if I can get a new kind of bedding soon!! It scares me though that he's eating this. I just can't figure out why.
