So, after many meals of having Freya be a picky little stinker, she finally seems to be getting it! She likes to eat in private, so I've been focusing on feeding Vivi, and ignoring her while she hoovers the kibble off the raw. Tonight, however, as I was giving Vivi his meal (he likes to eat the fist bit from my hand before he'll eat from his bowl) I heard her nibbling, nibbling... then she ran past me with a big chunk of rabbit hanging from her mouth! She scooted into the cage and started chowing down on it.
I know we're not out of the woods yet -Vivi still likes a bit of canned in his food and Freya needs crushed kibble on top, but we're on our way!
Thanks for the advice, guys!

I am soo happy ot hear that things might have finally clicked with the little sweetheart. I would give her a few days of eating the rabbit and then start to slowly reduce the amount kibble on top of it. Same with the canned food. Keep reducing it until it is all gone or they stop eating the raw and if that happeneds then just go back to where you were when they stopped eating it and try again to reduce the kibble/canned food. You are doing a great job!!!

You are doing great, be sure to keep us posted. I'd follow Jasmines advice (above) and see where it goes from there.

Figured I'd give a little update. Vivi is still progressing well, he only needs a tiny bit of canned now. I'm working on not making it as warm, too, so I don't have to run it under water so much. Freya is still a little touch and go- sometimes she eats the raw, sometimes she just sucks off the kibble. I think we're over the major hills with her though.

Thats great that he needs less wet food now. And you are right in making it less and less warm. Im sure that Freya will get there. At least she is eatting the raw. It would be nice if she stopped her days where she just ate the kibble but she will get there. Keep up the good job and keep moving forward

Sorry! I haven't been on the computer for a few days. Everything is going really well. Both of them are onto eating completely raw right now (although Freya isn't happy about it). My goal at this point is to start working chunks into the food so I can eventually get them eating chicken necks.

Thats great. Just taking the small baby steps forward and you should keep moving along just fine

Still moving the fuzzbutts up to chunky stuff. They're eating their food entirely cold from the fridge now, no problems.

Still going really well. They're both super excited for mealtimes now, which is a big improvement for Freya. They're eating some chunks, so I think I'll have them up to chicken necks in no time. I may cut some necks into small pieces tonight for their dinner and see how it goes.
I don't anticipate any more problems- they seem to have gotten the point that what goes in their bowl is their meal, and they won't be getting anything else.

Excellent! Be sure to let Jas and I know once you get them eating raw meaty bones. From there Jasmine will help you to develop a nutritionally sound "weekly feeding schedule".

The chicken neck pieces went over great. It took them a little while, but they each ate half a chicken neck cut into about four pieces each. Vivi wasn't sure about the chunks at first, I had to give him one from my fingers, but Freya tore right in. I swear she's more willing to try new things than Vivi now.
My plan for them is to eat Primal premade in the mornings and do raw meaty bones at night, pretty much like what my cats do. I know not everyone here likes premade raw, but I'm a firm believer that even obligate carnivores benefit from a small amount of vegetables and fruit in their diet.

That is fine, to each his own (beliefs that is) I dont think the small amount of veggie/fruit matter in the premade raw is harmful, I just think they cant really digest it. Now if you were feeding whole strawberries to your ferts, that would be an entirely different story Be sure that when you set up your feeding schedule for Jas to review that you make sure the RMB portion of the diet is balanced (in one week, atleast 4 days RMB, 2 days boneless muscle meat, 1 day organ meat).

Actually I think Vivi would be in heaven if I fed him a whole strawberry, he's obsessed with sweet things. I never really do concrete meal plans with any of my fuzzies, they all just kind of eat what's thawed on a particular day. Chicken wings sometimes, necks others, organ meat once a week or so. Sometimes if I can find a smallish one, I'll give the dog a whole chicken carcass, which she LOVES. I don't do much plain muscle meat with the cats or the dog though- do ferrets need less bone in their diet than cats and dogs?
