Now that I seem to have determined that Boris has a problem with raw chicken(seems pretty definite), I'm assuming that will include the liver? Which will be a shame- that's the only liver they will all eat without it being made into a soup with cream to flavour it . Any thoughts?

I'd try the liver and see how it goes, do you *know* that he has a problem with the liver?

Not a clue, but I just bought some more today. I don't find chicken livers here that often(most of the giblets and liver go to the mink farms), so I picked them up from habit

Yeah, I'd give the liver a shot. If he doesnt do well with it then you might be stuck feeding another type of liver by pureeing it. What other livers have you tried?

Just beef and rabbit so far. They're the only ones I've been able to find.

Pork is usually available too. I've been finding offal a lot harder to come by these days. I don't know if it's just not selling so stores aren't stocking it or a whole lot of raw feeders have been getting there before me I know when we're treating true meat allergies with dogs and cats the offal of that particular beast is usually off limits too You can try it, but I know that if I put beef offal in my mix and Samurai eats it, he's projectile vomiting everywhere within minutes of ingestion. He has a true beef allergy (he's a cat by the way not a ferret ) ciao

The problem with finding much offal here is that the vast majority is sent to the mink farms, even from most of the local butchers. I can get beef liver from a friend as she orders large amounts to make the dehydrated liver treats. And once in a blue moon our locat Co-op store will have chicken livers and hearts in the freezer section. That's when I stock up!

Someone was just talking to me about mink coats the other day. I was like, thats gross.
Anyway, I saw beef livers today at Walmart. Holy cow. Thats gross, then I saw ox tail. Creepy looking. And split pork feet. Is that really edible? And also turkey necks! I was so excited, Walmart is the only place with all that stuff! And I *almost* have enough freezer space to buy more raw!!

I have four shelves in my deep freeze(upright variety). Two of them are devoted to ferts!

The other kids don't care a heck of a lot so I just buy things they will eat, but she would gnaw on those bones for hours. Walmart's a great place to buy weirdo meats... if I had one closer that sold food, I'd probably do much of my shopping there! Unfortunately the ones in my area are mostly non-Super Walmarts.

So is oxtail actually worth something? I mean high calcium or protein or good at cleaning teeth? Is it like a treat? I will buy it if its for something. It looks fairly cheap!
And then I saw white tripe! OMG thought I would throw up!!

The smaller segments are good because they can get at the marrow, and they're great for teeth-cleaning. The bigger segments are too hard and too big to really be much use, but there is still some meat on them to gnaw off.
