Are there any butchers near you?? You might have to start ordering somethings online: I know someone who orders from here: www.nimanranch.com : regularly have tongues, sweetbreads, liver, ears, tails, or so i am told As for the little one i would get her to a vet to see if something else could be going on that maybe you cannot see.

Ok, I've got a really good (and concerning) question. One of my ferrets is having a reddish poo now. Is this something to be concerned about (lacerations in bowel???) or is it something benign like bone marrow poo?

Could be bone marrow poop. On a natural diet your ferret will have a rainbow of poop Also ferrets can and do get into things and its possible he/she ingested a red-tinged object and it is now showing up in the poop. I would keep an eye on it, but I wouldnt be overly concearned, honestly (my ferrets will poop red, orange, yellow, and green lol it just depends on their mood. Now if you are worried about an intestinal perforation, the risk of bone perforating the bowl is acutally not that high. AND if the poop is red (and it IS blood) that means that it (the blood) didnt come from that far up the digestive tract (if it did the poop would be a tarry, black color). It wouldnt be possible for it to be an intestinal bone perforation because by the time the bone went that far through the digestive tract, all its sharp edges would be dulled and rounded---thus making it impossible (or very unlikely) that it would cut the intestinal wall. Do you know which ferret it was?

Now Giuli, you should know my response to that question by now! Now, I do know it wasn't Topher or Whisp. I'm going to be following my other 7 around all night with a flashlight and a magnifying glass to inspect their....droppings. So........what are you doing tonight? Party at my place....if interested!

Sorry one cage is more then enough esp since i dont have hubby's help he normaly does the litter boxes. I agree with Giuli as to the poop ( one of the puppies has blue poop and the other one red poop right now--the kids feed them crayons ) but i have had pink ferret poop when they found a crayon i didnt see before letting them out. Lol not sure if flashlight, nightime, and ferret poop equal a party but i live to far away to find out

Well, you missed all the fun and excitement of the poo party! But, the good news is, no rainbow poo today! Buzz...I feel like I owe you an apology. I skim through other posts, and have come to realize, you have the slow students to teach. Everyone else is starting and graduating...and here I am. Right where I was. Sooooo............forgive me???

Nothing needed to forgive. I think i mentioned that my Fatty took 3 or 4 tries to actually switch . So i do know the feeling of having slow switchers. Giuli did good with matching us up. each fuzzie moves at their own pace. I am glad that you are as patient as you are with them. So btw how are the buggers doing today?

Well, I think most of mine have gone on a hunger strike again. I put chicken out this moring, and it has hardly been touched. I refreshed everything this evening and added chicken heart and gizzard to the mix (I went shopping today and actually found gizzards....I was so happy! It takes so very little to make me happy!). Still, no one is really eating. I am hoping this is just a "today" thing. I'll have to watch closely tomorrow to see if everyone is eating. Looks like I'm going to have to make a new food check list again to mark them off as I see them eat. When will this ever end???

:-*has it gotton more humid where you live?? hotter in the house???
If any of the anwers are yes then that might have something to do with them not eating like they were before. remember they are really sensative to the heat.
And yes it will end hang in there you are doing really well

Yes, it has been hotter and more humid here lately...but our ac stays on around 72...that should be ok right??? Jetta still is eating...but not as much as she had been. I just don't know why all of them today? That is why I refreshed the meat. I thought maybe it was bad. But even with the fresh, no takers. It just gets frustrating when you get to a certain point, and the next thing you know, you are back at the start again.

I know that i can feel it inside when the humidity changes even with our ac on 74 all the time.
Your not back to the begining just having a slight food strike. Let me know how they are doing today. It is not abnormal to have this happen everyonce in a while
