Well, I think she was kind of confused as to why she was here last night. After all, she's spent 7 months/most of her life with her other people! She also was mostly an outside dog, she had a 6x10 pen out there. They loved her, but they were your typical average joe (ignorant) pet owners. Anyhoo, she walked in circles a lot (through the house I mean, you can go from the living room through a hallway out the other side and into the other living room entrance, if that makes sense ) and a couple times she went to the dog bed or one of the pillows laying around for the dogs to lay on and did the "dobie dig" but she never layed down. When she layed on the concrete in the garage (that's where her sleeping picture is) she was actually right next to my chair - she didn't dig first. She also didn't dig when she layed on the pillow next to my bed to sleep. It was pretty darn funny, though, watching her try to figure out how the other 3 got up on our bed. She would jump up with her front paws, but then didn't know what to do. She paced the bed a lot before she finally settled down, but once she did she slept all night. She's back to not sittin' still, but she's more at ease I think. Now if I could just get her to listen, LOL. I understand what they meant when they said she's rambunctious! She is certainly full of it!

She is absolutely gorgeous! I have loved dobies from a young age and hope one day to get one of my own. I even know which breeder I will be going to. I think a lot of dogs get attatched but dobies are big sucks. They have to be with their human 24/7. Its sad that her last owners thought she should be outside for more then just a poo on her own. But what can you say.... Anyhow, she is so pretty! I do like how her ears are done, not too often you get a good crop job. I would love to see more pics, I am just in love!!!

I took her to PetCo earlier because they're having a giant clearance on toys and everyone was ooh'in & aaah'ing over her. I had one guy who said he raised dobes say her ears looked really good. I have the receipts from the owners, they got it done at their vets. They do look nice. I don't honestly know much about cropping. My pittie's ears are natural. I'll try to get more pictures, they just don't come out well because she doesn't hold still!

Yea I'm only gonna let him get one though. Hes the one who got me into ferrets. We were getting a rat one day (snake food) and there was a ferret he fell in love with. (He was gone before I did the research and decided it was OK for us to get a ferret) So we talked about it for awhile I DID THE RESEARCH and posted a want ad got a call a week later and got Loki 2 weeks later. So here I am a year later with 3 of the little stinkers and I take care of them and play with them.

Congrats on the new addition! Dobes are a very interesting and rather quirky breed. My first dog was a very Dobe like Dobe mix Be aware with dilute colored Dobermans there is a very specific skin issue that only they and a couple other breeds are prone to. It is called Color Dilution Alopecia (CDA), which causes balding. In some cases the balding is so extreme that the dogs lose nearly all of their hair. This is a good website on the subject: www.seattle-attorney.com/storm/sup.html Another very common problem with Dobermans is Hypothyroidism so it is important to know the symptoms: www.gdhfa.org/ThyroidLaBrie.htm It is common enough in Dobermans that yearly or bi-yearly thyroid testing is may be something you want to consider, as it often will turn up a problem before symptoms are obvious. Be prepared that often times vets, for whatever reason either don't think of hypothyroidism or are downright opposed to testing for it, even in dogs with obvious symptoms. It is a fairly easy to treat problem but involves daily medication. And finally care should be taken when vaccinating any dilute colored dog, as they are more prone to immune system issues. This is a good article on the subject: www.dogsadversereactions.com/vaccinePredisposed.html
