I just got this, but I don't have a microwave so I can't try it!(the kids mentioned at the bottom aren't mine, they don't know this exists!)
DANGEROUS CHOCOLATE CAKE-IN-A-MUG 1 glass/ceramic microwave mug 4 Tbsp. flour, regular 4 Tbsp. sugar 2 Tbsp. cocoa 1 egg 3 Tbsp. milk 3 Tbsp. oil Small splash of vanilla 3 Tbsp. chocolate chips, optional Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork. Add egg, mix thoroughly. Pour in milk and oil and vanilla, mix well. Add chips, optional Put mug in microwave, and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts. Cake will rise over top of mug--but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little; tip onto a plate if desired. Eat! (This can serve two if you want to feel slightly more virtuous.)
***And WHY is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only five minutes away from chocolate cake any time of the day or night!!!***
My kids added some drizzles of chocolate syrup and some Cool Whip (we didn't put in the chocolate chips). You could add canned frosting, too. The batter does rise up 'way over the top of the mug, but doesn't run down the side. Fun to watch! Be careful not to overcook--our microwave is higher than 1000 watts, and three minutes was a dab too long--dried the cakes out a little bit. Anyway, give it a try! And be sure to watch it the whole time it's baking in the microwave!!! Don't over cook.......

I had to hide this from my husband. This would become his breakfast, mid morning snack, dessert, afternoon pick me up, and a late night munchy.

Oh, that's so cool! I'm going to go home and make some. I have been craving more desserts, but I didn't think to make a cake.

I tried this earlier but did a lot of modification. We didn't have regular flour, so I had to use rye flour.. Didn't have regular choco powder, had to use hot choco powder.. Didn't have vanilla... But it was pretty good dispite the change in the recipe. I topped it with cherry vanilla yogurt ice cream and that was real good. I'd try it again but I'm trying to lose some weight, lol. Its a competition type thing going between my cousin and I. She wasn't happy to find out what I ate today!!

I had it tonight, too, but since I have ordinary ingredients, I was able to make it as directed. Dave has a large mug I put it in. I don't think it would have fit in a smaller one. It was pretty good, I have to say.

You people without the microwaves!!! I saw/read Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and the mother didn't believe in microwaves and was kind of a hippie and would have been pretty organic if it had been written in the last couple of years. Why don't y'all have microwaves? Do you just eat things right after you cook them?
One of my favorite things is to cook late at night and then pop my creation in the fridge and have leftovers the next day. I don't know why I do that. I can't cook before a meal because I get hungry before it's finished.
I assume at least one of you works outside the home. You could always try making it at home and bringing it to the microwave at work and letting all your coworkers get jealous of your fresh cake in a mug.

Well, I'm in a dorm right now, so that's why I don't have a microwave. The one in the community kitchen is pretty gross 75% of the time, and they're doing repairs in there this week anyway!

I dont have a mircowave because honestly, my b/f and I have never really needed one. We just moved into our apartment in April and we just never bothered to get one. Honestly, the only time I need a microwave is when I want popcorn (or cake-in-a-mug!). Most frozen dinners can be cooked in the over, and most of the food we make is made on the stove or in the oven. We rarely have left-overs. So I just never bothered to pay to get one. I usually just spend my money on raw food for us and the ferts, or bills. I dont really have the extra money on hand to buy a microwave, when honestly, I would rarely use it. Plus my kitchen is TINY (its a galley kitchen), I have no idea where I'd put it!

Nope, I'm a bum and I'm unemployed (regretfully so) at the 'mo but as soon as I get a job again that is the first thing I'm gunna do! Talk about making my new co-workers hate me!

In small kitchens here, people put them on top of the fridge.
What happened to that receptionist vet interview?

That sounds really yummy I wish I would have known about this about 3 years ago. But unfortunately I am a non microwave believing organic person. I have not used a microwave in over 2 1/2 years. Not going to say why not because well some people may not want to use a microwave ever again but how I found out was I read the book Kevin Trudeau's "More Natural "CURES" Revealed" Its not just about curing things it's also about preventing things and how to live a healthy lifestyle yada yada. This book has changed my life really.
I cook meals on the stove or in the oven when I am hungry. I do not make enough for leftovers I carefully figure out who is going to eat how much. If there do happen to be any left overs I turn the oven on 350 and heat it up in a pyrex baking dish. Takes longer but the food taste better and is better for you. I have a recipe for popcorn to cook on the stove I will post. I love popcorn. I also have organic snacks like granola bars, chocolate, cereal, ice cream or cheese around. Yum yum.
