OK, I need some tips here. Every time I try brushing the ferrets, it's a total wrestling match . Has been since day one. I use a soft brush made for ferrets, and if I can get them to hold still for 30seconds, I'm lucky. They prefer to either dig at it, shove their faces in it, or try to steal it, while I'm trying to brush them . They are starting to get their winter coats in, and I really need to get this down! So, any ideas, hints, tips, would really be appreciated!

We have to scruff the ferrets while we are brushing them. It may seem mean but it stops the struggling and also they like being scruffed, it makes them yawn like crazy and sometimes they'll even fall asleep.

the only way I can brush Mis Hershy is if I catch her napping and pick her up slowly she will normaly lay in my arms for a few minutes while I brush untill she wakes up fully and realises she is being held . sometimes I can brush her after she had a long hard play seccion she will lay next to me and let me brush her .

if Im in a hurry I usually have to scruff them, but when I sit with them and make a game out of brushing them then they love it and ill get a couple swipes here and there and usually they will give in and roll around and let me brush them.

Well those soft brushes do basicly nothing. They don't remove any loose fur. Get a rubber curry brush for cats. To brush them catch them when then are sleepy or just woke up and scruff them. It works excelent. You can find them at any pet store. May not be the same brand but as long as it is a rubber curry brush you are good to go. www.westcoastpetsupply.com/2/Safari-Rubber-Cat-Brush/

Actually, I've got one of those for my cats. They love it! No reason I can't use it for the ferts, too:)! I was wondering just how much good the soft brush did. Obviously not much. Thanks!

I hold mine under their chest with two fingers under their neck and two under their chest. I lay the rest of the body on the inside of my arm. They love to be held up in the air and brushed. I swear it would break my arms if I brushed them as much as they like.....lol My problem is Boudreaux always takes the brush and stashes it after. I do use the soft brush though. guess Ill go get a better one. Its kind of just a bonding thing with me and them.
