Ok first you can't panic and need to calm down. Many people have had a ferret missing 24 hours and then found them in a drawer or something. Does she have a favorite noisy toy you can shake that she responds too? The humane trap probably will work. Also check any place that may be dangerous for her make sure that you are certain she is not there and then block it off so she can't get there. Check you whole house!! Even in places she can't be! You can also leave her cage open to see if she will go into it. I wish you luck!

Squeek a dog toy and she should come running, all ferrets who aren't deaf respond to them. You can also try a live trap if that doesn't work, put her favroite food in it.
Make sure that anything like doggie doors are blocked off and windows are closed.

OHhh sweetie.,....deep breath.... Is there any way she can get out? If not, breathe deeply and start with one room....go through it, skip nothing. Under beds, in the mattress...in drawers...sleeping in the dirty laundry hamper. I found Mad Max sleeping in the top shelf in a closet. I found another on the third shelf (go figure how he got up there) in the linen closet in the bathroom. They're masters at hiding. It's sleepy time for them right now....if it were my guys I wouldn't find the sleeper until later tonight (I know heartattack time). Have you got a squeeky toy? Some of my guys will come to that....less now that my dog has squeeky toys but they still will stir. I'm off to work. I will keep positive thoughts going your way and I will check in on you later tonight. Ciao

Sometimes squeaky toys won't wake them even if they have good hearing.
Also, don't throw anything out, don't do any laundry without checking every item of clothing etc. Check cupboards, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.
You may want to leave one or more pet carriers outside with Tacato's bedding, food, water. If you have not found him yet just in case he slipped outside.
ANother thing...if you're really upset, Taccato may be hiding and be thinking he shouldn't come out because he can tell that something is not right.
I hope you've found him already. I think we've all been through the panic associated with a hiding/missing fert - It's a dreadful experience even if it's for only 15 minutes!!!

Yeah. Do NOT take anything out of the house that he may be in. My ferrets like getting in garbage.. I would leave LOTS of yummy smelling food out. Put it in the middle of rooms and watch for him to come to it. He has to come out of hiding at some point.
When people have pet rodents or reptiles get out, they sprinkle flower on hard floors and watch for foot prints in it, so they at least know if they are still inside. But I don't think a ferret would hide that long, unless they are afraid of you.

will keep my fingers crossed he's lost in the house.. if so you WILL find him .. take all the advice thats been offered and keep calm.. keep looking...
If there is the slightest possibility he's outside, set a humane trap like you suggested ... use a squeeky toy .. ( its a good idea to train him to come to it for a treat after you've got him back.. you never know when it will come in handy!) knock on every door... ask to look in back yards etc...
Call the RSPCA, local pound, vets, police ... anywhere a ferret found might be reported...
if you haven't found him by morning print up posters with a picture and post them everywhere you can.. a local store ? look farther afield than you think he might be.. you'd be suprised how far they will wander.
will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

Everyone had given you some really go adivice. Hydra went missing on us one day and we did not find her for about 14 hours and then she came out looking like "what?" Make sure that once you go through the house with a fine fine tooth comb so to speak that you go through it again. They can make themselfs really small when they want too. You need to check in all places possible and then in the the ones that do not seem possible. Check your walls and floors for any holes and if it is big enough for the ferrets head your baby could have climbed in it. IF so start banging on the walls and check your basement and attic and leave some food by the hole.
PLease let us know if you find your baby I hope you already found her

Im so glad that you found her
If she ate and drank and there is nothing else going on with her--and you dont think that she could have gotton hurt she should be ok and not need the vet...but if for any reason you think that something else might have happened take her to the vet anyway just to make sure. at this point its a judgement call

Thank goodness you found her Can you ferret proof your room, so that they can play? You've found one area that needs to be dealt with. Check further... crawl around on hands and knees and see if there are other places that they can get into or trapped. Ferret proofing is an ongoing process (or at least I find it that way, they're always finding something new to get into, onto or moving ) As was previously mentioned, if you think that your little one has been hurt or isn't behaving quite like herself then take her to the vet for a check up. Otherwise, just keep her under observation Good luck:) ciao

Oh, Thank God you found her....isn't that the worst feeling when you can't find one of your ferts? Even 5 minutes scares the snot out of me!!!! If she was stuck, she was probably stressing out, which made her go kind of weak. My Kachina (who loves to self-destruct) shoved her head into an empty toilet roll tube. I was right there when she did that...I immediately picked her up and pulled her head out of the tube, and a few seconds after she was out of the tube, she started fainting!!!! Her head wasn't in the tube for any more than 30 seconds, and the tube wasn't even all that tight around her head....she litterally panicked and started passing out like a rabbit does. I was flipping out thinking she was going to die from it . I had never left the brats unattended with toilet roll tubes - but even under close supervision, Kachina tried to detroy herself I never would have guessed she was going to run up to the thing and cram her head in it as quickly and as fast as possible!!!! All ferret are different. You may need to watch them a bit more closely to figure out what they might get into before you leave them out on their own. Hugs and kisses your little baby - we're all very relieved you found her -jennifer
