Theres a HUGE petland near my home and of course I go. Can't resist a pet store. Anyhow they have the cutest ferrets. Very clean animals here. Staff is nice..well then I get to talkin with two seperate employees who both own ferrets from the age of 2 to 10 years old. Okay 10 years old thats cool, but get this..both these employees feed their ferrets fruits and veggies!!!! They claim they have been feeding their ferts fruits, veggies, and table food since they got them. I tell them I have two ferrets and they are strictly raw/whole prey fed. One girl looks at me like I'm crazy and the other that said "oh you should give them fruits" seemed stunned when I said in a pretty loud voice "whoa there ferrets don't get no benefits from fruits and veggies they're carnivores", she was like "I know they're carnivores, but my ferrets won't eat meat".......................................................  10 years old and they're eating fruits and veggies?! I could just imagine how skinny they are and what their teeth look like...... |

Poor babies  I hate that people do not want to learn whats best for their animals I remember when i was in my early teens my moms friend had ferrets and she feed them kibble but i remember them getting lots of daily treats of just barley poached chicken and lamb and other meats. So even then she at least was trying to give them natrual type foods. |

OK, these people are stupid, if you know they are carnivores, and you understand the definition, why would you feed them fruits and veggies??!

Beats me...their obligated carnivores though..come on look at their teeth!! How the heck could these guys survive to be 10 years old eating fruits, veggies, and table food?! Thats insane. I honestly would love to see these guys in person. I know my two would more than likely look like monsters next to theirs. Its angers me that people are that idiotic..and working at a pet store for God sake!

I'd be very skeptical of their reported ages- its amazing how many people "forget" how old their pets are. My neighbors dog passed away and the husband told me the dog ( a shitzu/lhasa apso cross) was almost 18, later that day, speaking with his wife she told me the dog was only 12! And yes, they all live in the same house!
I probably couldn't resist asking to see the ferrets in person - just to meet such "miracle" ferrets! Then you are likely to get a song and dance about how the ferrets aren't allowed out of the house or are scared of car trips - blah blah blah.Cheers,
