Kay i have heard of "shedding" season and know that blockages occur at this time from hairballs. But no one has mentioned when the TWO shedding seasons are! i have ferret lax and such but i dont know when the season is. so how can i prevent blockages (of the hair kind) if i dont know when to start preventing! ><

They shed before winter, so around fall when it starts to get chilly, and then they shed their winter coat for summer, so again in the spring. You will notice the extra fur lying around.

BTW feeding your ferret mice will helps to reduce the risk of hairball blockages. Also, if you choose to use a hairball laxative DO NOT use a petrolium based product, this kills beneficial bacteria in the gut and can hamper nutrient absorbtion. PM josiesmom for the name of the petrolium free laxative she uses.

I was going to buy this one but they were and still are out of chicken flavor. You can look around online to find it a few bux cheaper but natural products are genrally more expensive than synthetic products because of the production cost. They will have it back in stock on this site on the 22nd. Everywhere else I looked online either the site looked fishy or they were out. www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Vetbasis-Hairball-Gel/130000.aspxHere are the ingrediets of it Canola Oil, Glyceryl Monostearate, Beeswax, Cod Liver Oil, Taurine, Cocoa Butter, Chicken Flavor, Carnauba Wax, Mixed Tocopherols I googles this: Glyceryl Monostearate An emollient and emulsifier derived from natural stearic acid and glycerin. I ended up getting a different brand. www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1939+14263&pcatid=14263which I wish I wouldn't have this is the ingredient list Soybean Oil, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Natural Chicken Flavors, Tocopherols (A Preservative), Papain, Soy Protein Concentrate, Beeswax, Natural Maple Flavor, Chamomile. they say hydrolyzed vegetable oil when on the bottle it says hydrogenated Also when I smell it all I smell is the maple flavor and it isn't a gel it is really runny I put it in the fridge and it is still runny. Loki is the only one who likes it. So I say wait for the vetabasis or use plain oil (Castor bean oil (availible at the pharmacy very cheap), coconut oil, olive oil, vegetable oil) or pumpkin
