Weezer's 1 year gotcha day anniversary is on October 9th, Lillian's is on November 24Th.. Gotcha days with the dogs are pretty simple, get them a "special" meat like veal from the clearance section, buy them a bully stick, some treats and some toys.. But what about ferrets? Yeah, I could get them some lamb or veal but other then that? What do you all get? The ferrets have really only played with teasers, I'd get them another but We've got like 5 of them already

I wish I could take them to the beach :-( Maybe I can get their distemper titers done soon so I can take them to the park. Or better yet, the apple orchard where I've been dreaming of taking them.. There are bunches of rabbits there and I'm sure their little noses will have a great time

The orchard does sound great! If you don't have one, maybe you could save some boxes and make a really cool fort for their birthdays and recycle it when they get bored? It'd be inexpensive so if they didn't play much you wouldn't have spent too much cash. Mine LOVED theirs. I feel bad because I often don't realize one of my dogs has had a birthday until the next month! I have had pistol for two birthdays and forgot both. Cobain gets a birthday because his is the day after mine, Teencie gets one because its New years eve and she's the favorite. I feel so guilty now, you keep up with everyone!

The fort is a good idea too, I couls make bunches of little places and have treats hidden in scrunched up news paper.
I've never had a problem remembering when their gotcha days are. Tessa October 25th, Buster (who passed away) March 25th. He passed on May 16th and we got Sally on the same day, Skip became a foster in August and we adopted him on December 1st, we got Weezer on October 9th and Lil on November 24th.

dont feel bad I forgot my Gf birthday twice and even worce our 3 year anniversary ugggg that was a bad thing I am still paying for it.. but never forget about the furry friends but ,I always did something for enrichment with them on BD's Stinky was easy (My past dog) load her in the truck and take her to park she never been to she would run for hours checking everything out even at 13 years old ! Puma (my cat) I would get a few live mice and let her hunt them in the basement or a few fish and put them in a kiddie pool and let hunt them its the only time he will go near the water . and from the little I know about ferts it seems something like a outing would mean more to them then a toy. Plus its fun to look at the photo's over the years and see all the changes in them and you.

Well one of my first ferrets, Hendrix LOVED watermelon BUT being the "diet psycho" that I am he was never allowed to have it, however on his gotcha day he was allowed one TINY piece (this was always after his annual BG screening to make sure he wasn't insulinomic). He loved it and because it was just once a year (and because the fruit is mainly water) all was good. Perhaps you could give your ferts a special snack that they are normally never allowed to have? But be sure its ferret-safe. Certain fruits can cause blockages, chocolate is always a no-no and anything with onion is bad, bad, bad. But hey maybe they could have a little bit of your turkey sandwich, or a sliver of swiss cheese, or a lick of ice cream. Gotcha days are only once a year My current group wants nothing to do with anything other then meat, meat, meat (yay!) so for their b-day/gotcha days they will be getting filet mingon (yes, with the bacon....hey, its just once a year ) Watch they probably arent even going to like it and then I'll strangle them!

What about almonds? I gave them each a tiny piece before and they loved it. They are totally in love with goats milk, it's like $6 for a quart at the store but I may be able to get some from my "goat lady" before their gotcha days come. I can stick it in the freezer, maybe in ice cube trays and serve it slightly melted with a LITTLE bit of honey drizzled on top and a some Pingfords Porage sprinkled on top of that

I would be worried about blockage with the almond, but mine all get a half of a teaspoon of icecream on thier b-days or gotacha ya day.

Yeah, I'd pass on the almonds. Anything that is not meat based that seems really fiberous or dense is probably bad news. A teaspoon of ice cream might be a good idea (just stay away from coffee and chocolate flavors).

I suggest some makeup for Weezer... we know he'd enjoy eating it!

Ah, yes. He's gotten into sooooo many lip glosses and lip sticks. Along with chapstick, vasaline and lotion, and he got blocked up with a toe seperator (the thing you use when painting toe nails). And guess how we had to cure the blockage? By feeding him more vasaline, so it was a win win situation. He got yummy stuff and we got poopie. Weezer sends kisses for that briliant idea!!

Well I told my boyfriend today that for christmas I want to order another bedding set and I would keep it in the box and wrap it up and place it under the tree and he goes kill yourself and then New bedding is always a lovely gift. Even if not a whole set you could get a den, cuddle cave or barrel.

I make their bedding. My sewing machines have fits though, someone else might mess with a knob then I've got to figure out how to get the knob back to where it should be. I hate machines with fancy adujstment, I'd much rather have a non-electric one that works. I could pump out bedding like it's going out of style.

Hmmm do you have an enrichment mat? If you do maybe you could make a really big one.
