I get my taurine online, but Im surprised to hear GNC doesnt have it.....Mine does, I just get mine online b/c when I order things through igive it gives a donation to my local ferret shelter which is why I try to buy alot online
Ill have to look up where I get everything to make my supplement so I will do that and post it later on today
The egg shells willl look like a mix between dust and sand, try to grind it up as best you can
Vivify is an oil, its emu oil which is very good or them...the down side is its expensive, so I have switched to salmon oil for now (you can get it online at pet stores that I know of, i.e. drs foster and smith, ferret.com, ferretdepot, etc...)
That is too hot to bring them out, but you said they like to be in a baby pool, this would be ok, but I would still limit their time outside in this heat (even with a pool) to 15 min max...since they cant sweat or pant like dogs its hard to determine if they are getting too hot, and its better safe than sorry....but I would say its ok to let them play in the pool for a couple mins, just make sure the water is cool

Do you mind sending me a little of that stuff in a baggie? Bc I would like to make sure they like it before I go to the trouble of making it. My address is:
Maddy Johnston 100 Jones Slough Road Kingston, GA 30145
I'd really appreciate it! I'm excited they are getting off the kibble! Slowly but surely.

Ok heres where I get the stuff for the brown supplement mix: dried minnows @ : www.petextras.com/ferretproducts.htmlpogos mouse and or rabbit dried balls: www.petextras.com/meatjerkees.htmlOn this same website sometimes I get the dried lung in the dog section under meat treats, you can go under cat treats and see what you like as well, sometimes the dried minows are cheaper in the cat treats section (I dont know why lol) its the same though Then you can buy freeze dried liver anywhere, either on this website or at any local pet store (usually they are in the dog treats section) Then I grind all this up and it makes that brown mixture I sent you you

Thanks so much for sending that stuff. MegalWeasel LOVES the dream treats, but the other 2 don't seem to interested. As for that white powder, you said you can use regular cream too? How much should I add?
Also I know this is weird, but I found out we have a meat grinder lol...and I was wondering if I should start grinding up chicken wings to get them eating bone?

good Im glad they came to use, only one of my guys likes them too...they are good for them though
About the cream.....you can only use cream without carrageenan, this stuff is bad for them....and the reason I use the white powder (KMR) is because I cant find any cream sold around me without this stuff in it, so this powder is a good alternative and the plus is that its not fully dairy unlike cream (b/c dairy can give them upset tummies sometimes) If you find cream without this carrageenan in it then I would use a tbls in each soup (I'd say weekly)
About the meat grinder....thats a good thing to have, although Im going to have to ask about grinding up wings, the only thing I am wondering is if the bones are too small that they could choke on them.....but Ill ask the other mentors and see what they say (I dont exactly know b/c I dont own one so I dont have experience with it) but I will get back to you abotu this

Ok, the reason I fig it would okay is because everyone says the bones are crunchy until they are cooked, so I didn't think it would be different from them just eating a bone.

Oh my gosh.... it was so NASTY! Hearing the bones crunch and watching the blood gurgle out... yuck lol. They really love it though. It is cheaper than buying ground chicken (a little more manual work) and I like that the bone and skin are in there bc its like they are getting all the same nutrients as just eating the chicken wing. So I ground up 6 wings, an egg, some liver, a little bit of salmon oil, some of the nano greens you sent me, and some of the supplement. It is still pretty chunky too. I mean I added water to make it soupy, but left chunks. Beatrice and MegaWeasel are definitely downing it.
As for Badger... She is still eating kibble, but not as much. I am running out of the kibble and really don't want to buy more so I am giving her less and less. She really has improved though and is eating the ground wing mush from a spoon a little more at a time. The biggest improvement for her is that I used to have to hold her and sometimes scruff her a little bit to try it... now I hold her at first (no scruffing) and put a spoonful in front of her and once she starts to eat it I can set her down and keep holding the spoon, and she will eat for a little while before running away. I know it seems like hardly anything, but with her that seems like progress to me.

That is great progress for badger!!!! so shes coming around finally! just keep up the patience! lol what I also did for my stuborn little one is I bought those dehydrated jerky looking things (you find them in the dog section) and they are thin pieces of dehydrated meat (I usually buy duck because I can get it normally in the store so I get it in these so I can add duck to their meals) this seems to work for her when shes not feeling the raw meat I have out for the day, and its healthy....so theres another option as well
Yea I agree that probably is pretty gross to hear the crunching, but well worth it, it seems! I think I may get a meat grinder....it seems pretty conventional, and I would probably end up using it alot too!

I have seen those jerky treats, but never in duck! Where do you get that? Badger is really picky about treats... she doesn't like those dream treats (but I'm ordering some bc MegaWeasel LOVES them!), she doesn't like any kind of oil... The only treat she liked were some ferret chicken treats that I later found out had too much sugar and bad stuff in them! Yea that meat grinder is working great! I would def look into it bc it crushes anything...

I usually order my ferret supplies online b/c theres only petco around me and I dont really like it plus I think its horribly overpriced lol I shop on ferret.com and drsfosterandsmith.com and on the drs website they have all different flavors of the jerky treats (I think like 5 or something)
Try olive oil (like a dab on your finger and see if she licks it off)....if you cant get her to eat any kind of oil then I would probably get her the regular ferretone so she is getting some kind of oil (I know it doesnt have the best ingredients but its better than nothing) I found my little girl only likes olive oil and vivify (I also get this on either website, although it is a bit pricey...just an fyi)
Yea all the treats made for ferrets are actually really bad for them....go figure lol.... anything natural for any animal is good though

Beatrice had to be put to sleep this past Sunday. I am ssssssoooooooo miserable. It was hands down the most difficult decision of my life and I literally cried for 5 hours non-stop. It has been a week and I really don't feel much better. I just wish she would have passed peacefully in her sleep...I wish I didn't have to make the decision.
