I haven't heard of a ferret with adrenal that's being treated pass at two... I guess if their environment and nutrition is not the greatest and they're not being treated. I thought that though it could happen two is young for devloping adrenal... are you sure it was adrenal and not something like juvenille lymphosarcoma?

if it was veggie/vegan ferret, than yes, its definitely possible. there was a post on here about a couple giving their ferret the best possible food... which they thought was fruits and vegetables. i believe it didn't live too long.

probably not from adrenal then....probably from poor nutrition, the veggies and fruits, a vegan diet, they don't get the right type of protien and have little to no taurine or fats which these little guys need...

If this ferret was fed a vegan diet the symptoms would resemble adrenal...they're not. It's malnutrition. If they were fed raw fruits and veggies as treats, then chances are it was a blockage Poor wee mite. ciao

Here's a picture of a ferret fed a vegan diet: Now you tell me if that looks like severe adrenal

They make a lot of things that are really cheap, and in no way good for them. I'm starting to think Heather is right in that they are breeding for a shorter life span so they can sell more. And anything they can do to hasten that along, well....

They make a lot of things that are really cheap, and in no way good for them. I'm starting to think Heather is right in that they are breeding for a shorter life span so they can sell more. And anything they can do to hasten that along, well.... a little OT but my neighbour and I got into a conversation about commercial kibble for dogs, and he was saying that it's more than a convience thing, It's also a 'human' thing. That sounds weird.. let me explain. He was saying how companies pump out these terrible kibbles for animals, and everyone (for the most part) know that it's bad for your animal. People still buy things like that because an animal is almost like an accessory - like a car. People like to get new, improved, better looking models every couple years - we don't want that 70's car even though it's probably safer if you get into an accident, and it's hasn't fallen apart even though it's almost 40 years old. You want a new one because your old one is boring now. I dunno if that makes scense - it's sort of hard to type out. but like a new car, people get bored with their animals, and that's why no one cares that their life span has went from 15-20 years to 5-12 years i thuoght it was so sad he would say that - but it is so true =[ that's how people think nowadays. =[

And you're right, unfortunately. I cannot count the number of people who consider animals to be a disposable commodity. And yes, they will come right out and tell you they are disposable.

This is why I'm a hermit with no friends in real life other than my hubby and fam, and only talk to people in groups and forums online who are like minded as me. People are, in general, bad. Or at least that's what my experiences have told me.
