I've always adored that tunnel system for them to come and go as they please!

New Update- I'm on a role! My thoughts on the landscaping is pretty solid but still not completely clear. Entrance- I'm thinking of mix compost and leaf mater to create mulch or all three substances to create a pretty cool cover. It will be covering about haft of the area. Pond- I did not think about doing a pond until I ran across solar water pumps. ^.^ I was thinking of building the land up to wards the right corner and laying a shower curtain, tarp, some liner down. The bottom of the hill will be dug out so it's a small but deepish area. I need to remember to dig this general area out Before I lay the wire down so I have that spot deeper than the rest. I'm thinking of building a lip between the hill and end pool with a flat rock that the liner lays on and placing some more river flat rocks on it. Big Rock- The Grey spot in the mulch area is a rock that I want to place to have a seat while I watch the kids. But it's natural so it won't stick out too bad. Grass- I know I want to plant grass here. What grass will grow in shade? I still need to figure out wild flowers to help make ground cover. Logs And Tunnel- We have logs everywhere. The thought is to take a good sized log and place a smaller log balanced on top to create a climbing obstacle. I want to also put a tube under, or around the ground it is on. Awesome right? Price- Not as much as building. I'm using frugal ways. I may go down to the rapids and snatch some big river slabs and different rocks. Mulch most likely will be home made. Soil is everywhere. I need to get a liner, solar pump, and plants. This may have to wait till spring but..I can dream. ^.^

Redo- I was going to do 4 ft by 6 but I figured I could just do 6 x 6 since I have the needed space. ^.^
Can you raise feeder gold fish in the ferret pond or will they hurt the ferrets when and if they find them yummy? I want the place to be as natural as possible includding...welll fish.

In order to save cash, Can I use the plastic, green, stuff for the sides instead of wire?
Wire altogether will cost 200 at 40 bucks a side. or I can do 13 a side for the green stuff.
I checked it at the store and it's rather tough. I would not be able to chew through it.

My only concern would be raccoons and other potential predators being able to chew through, and the fuzzies being able to chew a hole in it.

I really wouldn't want to chance the plastic. YOU might not be able to bite through it, but you don't have the jaw strength of a ferret, nor the tenacity they have when they really start obsessing about something . To say nothing of potential predators.

It's acualy a pretty thick plastic compaired to the netting. Thicker and it hurts my hands to pull at it. The holes are also small. Chicken Wire, which is a no no, looks crappy to this stuff.
My only thoughts are that it is dark and would make the enclosure dark.

I know that you're trying to save money, but if that's the stuff I"m thinking of, weather deteriorates it's integrity and a determined ferret will destroy it. It's holes and depth of plastic is set in such a manner that it actually causes a ferret to dig at it. I tried to use as a method to confine my guys to a give space, thinking that the smaller holes might discourage climbing. They didn't climb it to begin with...they just shredded the lower levels digging and biting at it. My guys weren't near as determined about getting out of the outdoor pen. ciao
