Had to hand feed spleen last night, but they gobbled it up. sadie loves the ground chicken she always finishes all of it. nothing new.

They were not overly thrilled with less soup in mix. They picked at it over an hour or so, then the dog gobbled the rest up I'll try again tonight lol

They're testing you, but you're doing a good job!

They are both starting to take an interest in bones. The bigger chunks of bone in the mixes, they have been chewing on them, not eating them yet but at least chewing on them.

Trixie not eating or drinking well. is there tricks to getting more into her? she'll take only a little at a time off my fingers. She's very sleepy, as her sugar is up again. We've never had trouble getting her to eat/drink the mixture (mostly watered down) this time she refuses and backs way from it when offered.

Oh poor girl. The meds may be upsetting her tummy and not eating of course makes it worse. I would try boiling some chicken or pork (meat only of course) and mashing that up with some of the cooking liquid. The smell may entice her and it will be a bit easier on her tummy.

Thank you.
Last night i syringe fed her, this morning she ate her soup on her own. knock on wood that keeps up. If not I will make the cooked meat this afternoon.
The other two still not overly thrilled with the new 'less' soup. They pick at it and have been eating less, but not so much less that i'm concerned. They (not sure which one but suspect zeke) has been eating the left overs from the cage, which is newer for them to do.

Whatever she wants.
The other two sound like they're just being stubborn. Probably to see if you'll cave. Ferrets can be so lazy and chewing is work, momma! Any protest pooping?

No protest poops.... yet likely not good timing but i got an early Christmas gift.... a new ferret He`s 6m, white and we called him Neka, it`s native for wild goose! He`s a ball of energy! Pics to follow. I gave him the same dinner i gave everyone and he gobbled it up. I gave him a chicken wing he ate the tip off (Zeke just sniffed it and walked away) SO he`s at least at the same spot if not further ahead then the others. SO i`ll be holding for a bit on food, meaning staying where they are with it. SO as not to totally freak them out. They ignore him for the most part... and he`s real hard to ignore! Zeke has put him in his place a few times. Trixie`s sugar is very slowly coming down. She`s sleeping with us again so we can keep her hydrated. At least this bout she is drinking well on her own.

Chicken wing tips are the best! Congrats on the new one! Hopefully he will get on board with everyone else and there will be peace amongst ferrets. Might take a while though.

Yes i think it will take a long while to get this one on board, behaviour wise at least. As for food, he's eating what they eat, no issues at all. I do have left over kibble from before the switch began but i have not even brought that out for him. I think i could have gone further with him, but also don't what to complicate things too much for me. It's been 6 days since the lessening of soup, 2days since Neka joined us, and today they eat about 80% of what i offered. Still going to hold hear but they are finally getting this is all I'm offering LOL Anything i should watch for to know neka's adjusting well to the switch. Finding it hard as i don't really know what his eating habits were before he came. Here he gobbles in the morning, eats very little at the afternoon feed, but will eat some of whats in the cage before going to sleep during cage time. More of what i leave in the cage seems to be getting eaten so i think thats him as well. He drinks/plays lots with water so i think he's OK there. First poops were huge, now leveling off some. Even got Trix to eat some raw mush today. Poor girl, I've been trying every mix/combo of food to find what she'll eat, mostly having to resort to force syringe feeding her. Trying to trust when she's had enough and comeback to it in an hour. I believe the spleen (tumour) is pushing on her other organs making eating difficult. Last night she had the first seizure that we've seen. Vet thinks she should have been having them all along but I've never seen anything. I thought maybe i could have not recognized it.... but there was NO missing that! The scariest part was how fast it happened. Her sugars have been super high for 3 days. Yesterday they were lowering but still really high, then in 2 hrs from the last time we checked her sugars it dropped low enough to have a seizure.

oh and i finally got some good weights on them all. From oldest to youngest age Trixie 1lb 12oz (6ish) Sadie 1lb15 oz(3ish) Zeke 3lb 4 oz (almost 2) Neka 2lb 12 oz (6months) I think zeke needs to lose some and should be closer to Neka`s weight he really is rolly polly! First vet vist a month ago, trix was 1lb 8oz, though the las week she seems thinner to me, so may have gained and lost since then. I have noticed both zeke and sadie put on weight since the switch based on diameter of ribs LOL My 9yr son use to be able to put his middle finger and thumb together encircling sadie, he no longer can. Zeke i could easily get my hand around to pick him up, and still can but it is definately more difficult. LOL

He's coming off kibble, yes? Feed him whatever he wants until he seems to stabilize. He's a bundle of energy and needs all the calories he can get. I'll bet he can pack away 4-6 ounces a day. Let me know.
