Haha I DID think that you were referring to your ferret! Your possum is...interesting. I think that if it were not for his tail I could really like him. haha He is cute and it is a cute picture! Does the possum have a name?

lol yeah she's mine, i named her Pandora - she was just a baby when i found it in my chicken pen when i found her i called the local wildlife rescue and they actually turned me down and didnt want to take her - said they had sixty possums in the facility already i'm worried about relocating her because there is a good chance she would just become someone elses problem and they would either shoot her or let a dog get her. sadly their lifespans arent very long, even in captivity - 2 to 4 years and probably shorter in the wild due to predators.. BUT...she's also one less greasy spot on the road right now

Nope! I knew you would have a real "possum". We had one at the wildlife rehab place here in the Boulder area....somebody moved here with the "pet" they had found when it was a baby. As it grew it grew up, started biting. This is why they brought it to the wildlife rehab place. We shipped it back to the state it came form and released init in a safe place. God it was cute!!!! I plcked it up and it wrapped it's tail tightly around my wrist, which kind of freaked me out since I was not wearing gloves. Possum have gnarly-looking teeth!!!

they are awesome and seems a lot of people dont know much about them a few years ago my mom hit one with her truck and i had a hissy fit until she stopped and went back. the poor thing was turning circles in the middle of the road, had two dead baby possums, and one that was running down the middle of the road - they werent much bigger than a baby rat either. we had an old rug in the back of the truck so i scooped up mama and put her back there, and held onto the runner(wrapped him the hem of my shirt) then put them in a tote when we got home until we could get wildlife rescue to come get them. my landlord wasnt too thrilled with the idea of a possum in our laundry room even for a short time lol but she did make a full recovery and got to take her maining babies back to the wild with her. and yeah it was difficult to give her back the runner lol i Reeeeeaaalllly wanted to keep it, so cute all curled up! that was when i had my pet rats and i think thats why i fell in love lol reminded me of my boys when they were babies ..

lol the gloves were to make my husband feel better, but she's never bitten or tried to bite, and has had ample opportunity to do so. but since it is a wild animal i dont take chances - kids dont get to play with her, and they are allowed to look as long as they keep quiet...a bunch of loud kids worries her. and since she's nocturnal i keep her in a quiet secluded place during the day so no one can bug her. she's actually very docile, a little bit like a cat..(they eat rodents too!) i know most people dont like the tails, but i gotta be honest.... those HANDS are what weird me out! you cant see them in the pic here, but they're like..... a human baby's hands... only with claws... and just as grabby lol

Haha between the tail, and the creepy baby hands I think I will pass on having a pet possum! Her face is cute at least and her fur looks soft - though I would think it would be wiry. If you do not mind me asking, how old are you? (You don't have to tell of course, I am just really curious) You mentioned being married and having kids, but you look really young in that picture! All of my family got married and had kids really young. I wanted to have kids young, but now that I am as old - older actually - than my mom and relatives when they had kids I am like NO WAY I can barely take care of my pets much less a kid! Anyways, off subject sorry. You look a lot like an old high school friend of mine in that picture.

no worries about asking my age - i'm 28 - been to the fountain of youth in St. Augustine twice so i guess it works lol my mom had me when she was in her thirties and we stopped getting along once i was in high school.... went from best buddies to worst enemies. which lead me to the conclusion that i do NOT EVER want to be going through "the change" while my kids were going through puberty and all their teen age drama lol i vowed that once i reached age 25 i would be done having kids, and if i didnt have kids at that point... too bad. i love kids, which is why i dont want to put them through a rock and a hard place kinda life. thats not to say everyone has that issue or option. lots of people will probably laugh and say they didnt go through that... and i envy them lol all through the teen age years it was like... if i was in a good mood she'd spoil it with a bad mood, or visa versa! winter time was especially annoying. freezing my butt off and she'd have the AC on full blast lol

I love little possum paws - they're cute --- the tail is freaky when the wrap it around your wrist and don't let go. What reaks me out is their TEETH!!!! getting bitten by one of those guys would REALLY SUCK!!!!
I think I have a picture of the possum we had at the wildlife rehab place...I'll try to find it and post it... I don't think I have a picture of the teeth though.

yeah the teeth are like one of those blades from an electric knife lol thankfully she's never used them nor had reason to. but i try to keep it that way! i was upset that the rehab centre just shrugged her off like they did, perturbed they are housing sixty of these animals.... and plan to do what with them? i was afraid to ask to be honest. often times when you call animal control to remove a pest they just kill it after its removed. i dont know if thats true of all of them but thats how it is here. THIS wildlife rescue does its best to help all but the most hopeless of cases.. when i did volunteer work for them they had a fawn with a broken leg, a baby raccoon, bunches of white rabbits someone turned loose, a couple of possums that had been run over, two wolf hybrids and a Macaw that didnt like its owners girlfriend... they were a kind of animal shelter that mostly took care of wildlife - feral cats included - I explained how i found her and the chickens going missing night after night(her mother perhaps??) Alas... their advice was to just turn her loose right where i found her ((in my chicken pen!?!?)) after that they told me possums and coons dont eat chickens lol i told my aunt that bit of info and she said "did you ask if he's from the south?"
