Hi I'm trying to figure out how to get an email notification when someone replies to a thread I posted in. Is there a way to do this? I have checked "bookmark this thread", but I'm not sure if this notifies you of replies. I can't find any forum options either. I'm not generally technically inept and belong to a few other forums which have easily found options, so I'm a bit frustrated that I can't find it for this one. Help!
Having gone through the forum, I'd like to suggest that all the articles that say "Coming Soon" be taken down or filled in. There are whole subforums with just "Coming Soon" articles. It seems to me from the dates they were posted that they've been "Coming Soon" for a while now. It's a bit disappointing to see a thread that looks like it'll contain great information and then find out that it's blank.
I'd also like to point out that there are some dead links in sticky-ed threads, most importantly there's a dead link or two in the "IMPORTANT INFORMATION... all members please read" thread.
Is there any current information on the status of the HF website? Am I blind and just missing the link to the website? I tried HolisticFerret.com and nothing came up. The Important Info thread mentions that all members should read the website when it opens in August (which would have been 2 years ago according to post date), so if there isn't a website, that should probably be changed. I checked the thread about the website status, but there weren't any recent posts.
I would really LOVE to see a website containing much of the information on this forum. Searching the forum is, in my experience, practically impossible, especially if you want to search all posts back to the start date of the forum and sorting through thousands of threads and posts for information is a very tedious process. I would love to be able to read the information in website form and then join the forum to discuss it. It would also be a great resource for those who aren't fans of forums and better for search engines (I think).
Toodles! - Jools

I'm unaware of any email notification capability for proboards. However, I'm anything but a expert on this! The website has not gotten off the ground...there's just so much work behind getting even this forum going. Everyone is either in school or working. The mentoring alone commonly has a waiting list. ...the other problem is the fact that knowledge changes so quickly, and there are as many ideas about ferret care as there are people. But hopefully, we'll get the website up one day inspite of all the distractions. And yes - the proboards search engine sucks miserably -jennifer

It's too bad about that. If it is still in the works, I would be interested in helping out some. I have some experience in web design and graphics etc. I'll have to PM Giuli about it sometime. As for notifications I did some investigating on the ProBoards support forum and they definitely do not do things the way I'm used to, but I did figure it out! It's done through bookmarks. If you go into your bookmark list and then hit "Manage bookmarks" you can change the default preference for all bookmarked threads or for individual threads. You can choose between no notification, PM, or email. That solves that mystery. - Jools

As far as I am aware, proboards does not have this feature. Sorry for the inconvenience. I completely see where you are coming from here. However, the reason those sections remain up, even though things have been "coming soon" for a while is because I need those as a visual reminder for how to map out the forum. Each article takes meticulous time and research to fill in. So yes, the articles unfortunately have been "in progress" for quite some time, mainly due to my extended absence from the forum due to personal reasons, and also the fact that my time is severely limited. I am currently working on these articles and hoping to have some of them posted soon. I have only recently returned to the board after being absent for several months. Hoping to play "catch up" as quickly as possible. I'd also like to point out that there are some dead links in sticky-ed threads, most importantly there's a dead link or two in the "IMPORTANT INFORMATION... all members please read" thread.Thank you for letting me know. I will be sure to make time to go through these links to remove any dead ones and make sure all links are current. The website creation has been a loonnnggg process. I began working on the text for the site back in 2007. Its been a 3 year process researching, composing, editing, etc all the information and an even longer process trying to decided what software to use to create and host the actual site. After much deliberation I have finally decided on Google Sites. The HF website is roughly 75% complete and while it's address has not yet been released to the public, I can allow you to view the information at the link below: sites.google.com/site/holisticferret/There are no doubt spelling and grammatical errors, broken links, and incomplete parts of the site. As mentioned above, that is because this is still a work in progress. I will not be posting the HF website address publicaly across the board until it is completely finished. Unfortunately, due to my status as a full time pre-vet student and full time employee at an animal hospital, my time is severely limited, so I am doing my best to complete the site as quickly as I can. I would really LOVE to see a website containing much of the information on this forum. I originally intended to release the website first and then the forum, but that is just not how things worked out. I am a perfectionist, so completion of this site is taking way longer then I would like. Hopefully, it will be completed and set for public release within the next few months. Its been a 3 year long process and I'm ready to have the site completed already. Life and its many ups and downs have unfortunately delayed the progression and completion of the site. Thank you for your input and suggestions. As always, they are greatly appreciated.

Guili, I found out how to do the notification thing. I posted it in my previous post (right before yours. I probably posted while you were typing) incase you want to add it to the stickied threads about how to send a PM and such. I totally understand having about 3 tons of life thrown on top of you all at once. I've been dealing with a very long and drawn out moving process for the last year among other things, so a lot of things I was planning got put on the back burner too. I'm glad you're back to the forums! Welcome back. Kudos to you for doing the pre-vet stuff. Sounds exciting. I love the header on the site rough draft you linked me to. It looks great! The pictures are really cute too. When the site is finished will you be publishing it to www.holisticferret.com or will it stay at that address? I'm a fellow perfectionist (sometimes to my detriment) so I understand things taking longer. That's pretty much the story of my life. I'm glad to hear it's all still in the works. Let me know if I can help out with anything and I'll see what I can do. - Jools

I'm really enjoying reading through the site. It brought up a question though. I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or not (since I was going to mention it was on the site you listed), so I'll just ask here.
The site mentions to prepare meat and feed ferrets on a wooden surface and not plastic? Why is this? From what I can find online and know about cutting boards, plastic or glass cutting boards are recommended for meats and wooden boards are not, due to the fact that bacteria can colonize the nicks and gouges in wooden boards. I think (depending on the wood) they would also absorb the liquid, causing even more problems.

What I have found in regards to wooden cutting boards is the opposite. That there are natural properties in the wood that help the board from being infested. I thought I had posted links to accompany that information, but perhaps not. I will see if I can find that information.
