Bah Humbug! I took the film in to be developed and it the whole thing was blank because the developing machine messed up! :S I got a good picture of Doc on my digital though luckily. So they're eating chicken and CGH really nicely now. I threw in two whole CGH wings, as well as a whole chicken wing + a misc. CGH bone. All but the whole chicken wing are gone! And I can tell they tried to gnaw on the chicken wing. I'm also looking into switching my dogs on to raw. I think they'd LOVE it!

Oh, that is excellent news ! As their jaw strength build up, they'll be able to tackle the chicken wing with no problem. I'm guessing now is a good time to introduce another meat Pork, turkey, lamb, goat, whatever you can get, and prefer.

I looked at it a few hours later.... and presto! The chicken wing was gone as well. It feels like now that the ball is rolling it's going nice and fast! What sort of cuts would you recommend with beef? That's most readily available to me, and I guess I'll have to stop by a butcher sometime soon!

I just get cheap Also, try to make sure they get some form of heart at least once a week. Doesn't matter what kind, but it's heavily taurine rich, which they need.

Ooh, heart? Do I need to cut that up? Or can I just toss it in there... xD?

Alrighty, that's good, since I actually have chicken hearts and gizzard in preparation for this moment! I'm not sure if I'll ever feed beef heart... I've heard it can cause some pretty nasty smells, and part of the condition of my being able to keep ferrets is that my parents can't smell them. xD

I find beef can cause more smell to their poop, but beef heart every once in a while won't make that much of a difference. Let me know how they do with a different meat!

Wooh! So sorry for not responding for so long. Finals are coming up and I've recently become very busy! I found a chicken wing in their cage. xD Turns out they stashed it, not ate it Ah well, we'll try again. Haven't had time to give them the chicken heart. I've really just been giving them my meats that I precut when I get home from the grocery store Thanks for being so patient with my schedule!

Not a problem- finals are important! So, how are they doing with other meats? And what kinds are they eating?

Alright, I very much apologize for being so out of touch D: These stupid finals have me pushing to make sure my grades stay at As! Right now they're eating cornish game hen and chicken really. They'll eat just about any part of the chicken, provided the wings are small enough. I think they really liked the CGH wings though. I'm still testing things out with heart meat though. I know i've been giving them some other kind of meat too, but at the moment I'm having an enormous brain fart after doing 4 hours of biology homework. Luckily when school gets out my schedule will be so much more clear!

It sounds like they are doing really well! With the larger bones, try cutting them lengthwise to expose the marrow, and to make them easier to crunch up for now. I'd also start introducing new meats to them, one at a time. Just whatever you can get. Also, now's the time to start with the liver. You may have to make a soup of it and hand feed again to start with. And I think the "brain farts" are allowed right now JUst keep bringing in those "A's"!

Alright, it's summer! ;D Woohoo! So I gave them shortback ribs today. They're still trying to get used to beef i think. Anyway, I'd love to start them on liver, I'll have to tell my mom to get some from the grocery store : ) Just chicken liver? Or is it specific kind of liver? ^_^

For mine, at least, the chicken liver goes over better. I think it's because of a milder flavour as compared to beef. Try slicing it up for them, but if they won't take it, make a soup of it, with enough water to bring it to the right consistency. Warning- they will have loosish, blackish stools from it, so don't freak out If their stools are too loose, or you have too much trouble getting it into them, try mixing it with some other meat puree. Or, you can add about 1tbsp heavy cream per ferret to it. Since heavy cream doesn't have nearly the amount of lactose in it, they can have small amounts occasionally.

Alright. Good to know for sure haha n___n And I'm just finding out that my grocer is not as extensive as i thought it was. x___x; Pretty much all they have is chicken, beef, turkey & ham. And some CGH. So us there anything specifc to do when feeding hearts? Like toss it in there? feed it with other meat? slather it in other delicious little ferrety delectables?
