So I gather then he's eating a variety of different meats? Pork, beef, chicken, turkey, etc? And they are eating liver, etc fine?

Excellent! I wasn't sure if you meant he ate any kind of chicken you gave him, or any kind of meat Ok, now to get Scratch onto the bone! Try offering chopped up wing tips for him. Make them about 1/2 in length.

How much bone are they eating? They should be getting bone about 4 days a week. What is the diarrhea like? Yellow/seedy, watery, blackish? If they are playing/eating/active as normal, try giving them some pumpkin, about a tsp each. Warning- if you do- poops will be orange.

Oh, wow! Congratulations to him ! Yes, the liver will make it looser, too, so more bone would definitely be in line. Some people I know feed bone every day at one meal. They spread the muscle meat out over 4 breakfasts, the liver for one, and everything else is bone in. Ferrets need fairly high amounts of calcium as a rule.

Do you have some sort of warehouse store near you? If you do, you might be able to buy chicken wings, and maybe even turkey necks in bulk. In the interim, give them some powdered eggshell on the meat in place of bone, and maybe a bit of pure pumpkin every couple of days(1/2 tsp) til you can get more bone in meats.

i really dont have many stores where i live lol i have agrocery store, a subway and a video rental place near my house...lol. theres also a butcher who used to give me free chicken necks for molson (considering i also bought all othe pther meat most people dont want to buy lol) i gave them an egg yesterday and broke up the eggshells into it and they both ate that up pretty quickly!

That's great! I'm glad they like the shell. Can you powder it for them? They absorb the nutrients in powdered shell better for some reason. I'm guessing it doesn't stay in the gut long enough to break down enough otherwise. Can you set me up a sample menu of what they're eating now? Sort of like, Mon.- chicken necks, Tues.- beef chunks, etc.
