As they get used to the taste over time, they'll start to eat more. Mine will only eat chicken livers willingly When I get either turkey or beef liver, I have to make it into a soup, and spoon feed the little beggars

I found an interesting technique with scruff n stuff. A little water when they are trying not to swallow helps. Scruffed and stuffed Londo and Zoey tonight.

Perfect!!! Glad you found a way that works for you . I'll bet those two are real happy right about now . Not to worry- they'll not only get used to it, they'll start to lick it from your finger soon!

Still at it, but we're at a plateau. Still have 4 kibble eaters.

I know how frustrating those "plateaus" can be! Just keep plugging away, and before you know it, you'll get them over the hump. I gather you are still having to scruff Londo and Zoey, and dabbing their noses? Or are they(willingly or unwillingly) licking some off your finger now?

Londo, Bella, and Zoey are scruff and stuff. G'Kar fights tooth and nail.

If you aren't doing it yet, try taking the kibble out of their cages a few hours before trying the soups with them. A little hunger always helps! . And it certainly won't hurt them!

Zoey has started to lick the meat when I hold it up for her. Another convert, coming soon!

Jon, just thought I'd let you know that if you ever need me to come by and help you guys out with the switch in whatever way you need me, I'd be more then happy. I'd love to see you and your wife and all the furkids (including Midas). Just let me know if you'd like me to swing by and help out. We'll get you over this hump. Its frustrating, but we'll do it! 8 down, only 4 to go!

Hi Giuliana!
Food to hear from you. We're slugging it along. You are welcome to visit any time! Zoey is doing better... willingly licks the little pieces, but can't figure out how to actually eat the stuff. She'll lick at the larger pieces for awhile, but it hasn't clicked for her yet.
Londo, G'Kar' and Bella will be challenges for sure - Londo really fights it.
Oh, and the dozen is now a baker's dozen. We picked up Midas' cousin (same color), Mal. He was on meat by the second or third day. Everyone else is doing pretty well. One is the whites, Moriarty is eating, but he'd still much rather have chicken.
Midas has integrated into the business. He still gets into scuffles with the resident bullies (G'Kar and Pippin), but he holds his own, and the scuffles are infrequent.

Awww! I love the name Mal! Where'd you get the little stinker from? I'm glad to hear the Midas has integrated into the business. Hopefully the longer he's there, the more the bullies will leave him alone. Oh Londo, tubby, round little Londo. He was a riot when I met you guys. His little shuffling walk cracked me up. Its funny, you'd think a fert that obviously has such an affinity for food would love to eat some new stuff! Guess not, but he'll get there. We'll have to figure out a good time for me to come by. I could bring some dinner for us all to eat and maybe Fugue, my NICE ferret (Mizu is just too territorial) could tag along and come visit too. I'll have to figure out when would be a good time where I'm not so darn busy. I'd love to see you all again, and see how big Midas has probably gotten. Little stinker.

Giuli,
Well, we're home most evenings after about 5:30... I'm sure that you have a busier schedule, so whenever is good for you will be fine. We're usually at home on the weekends - would that work better for you?
Absolutely, bring Fugue and Cupernicus along! You are welcome to try with Mizu - maybe being in a different environment would curb the bullying. That, or we can pair Mizu with G'Kar and have a World Wide Ferret smackdown.
Mal came from Petco. We just went in for litter, honest! He was the last of his batch, and already pretty big. He's smaller than Midas, and a little more compact and muscular. Very inquisitive and playful. He's integrated pretty well.

With Zoey, you may want to try adding a bit of semi-mashed ground to her soup. It may help her figure out how to not only pick the pieces up, but when she gets them in her mouth, she may automatically bite down on them. With Londo, for now keep up with the scruff 'n' stuff. Sooner or later, he WILL cave Another thing you could try with Londo is a different meat. He may prefer one to another.

We're usually at home on the weekends - would that work better for you?I work 6pm-6am Fri-Sunday, so when I'm not working on the weekends, I'm sleeping. ;D During the week works best for me. After 5:30pm is fine. I've got a busy week or so ahead of me, so I'll let you know when I have some free time. I'd love to see you guys. Absolutely, bring Fugue and Cupernicus along! You are welcome to try with Mizu - maybe being in a different environment would curb the bullying. That, or we can pair Mizu with G'Kar and have a World Wide Ferret smackdown.Copernicus would be in heaven. He was so excited seeing all those ferts! LOL about the World Wide Ferret smackdown. I wonder who'd win? Mizu's getting up there in the weight department. Winter weight, ya know. He usually tops out at over 4lbs by January. Mal came from Petco. We just went in for litter, honest! He was the last of his batch, and already pretty big. He's smaller than Midas, and a little more compact and muscular. Very inquisitive and playful. He's integrated pretty well."I just went in for litter, honest!" funny you should say that. That's how I wound up with Midas! I saw that beautiful face and that pretty coat and it was unfourtunately Mizu didn't feel that way. He felt more like but I'm happy how it all turned out in the end. I'm glad to hear Mal is integrating well. Oh and I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. You are into Firefly, aren't you? (Mal, Inara, Kaylee). I LOVE that show. It was cut too soon, too soon. Thought I liked the movie serenity, would have loved to have seen how everything would have played out had they given JW a whole few more seasons to finish. PS-Sorry to but in Sherrylynne.
