Good! We can start trying to work her up to the whole wing if you think she is ready. I love that noise too, it's sort of like they're breathing while chewing. It's totally cute

I'm definitely thinking next time I'm going to split and score the wings, but leave the bone whole. Hopefully she'll take to it.

Sounds like a good plan!

Mission accomplished!
After a small game of tug-o-war to show her that the whole bones were good too, she chomped down. When I checked her out this morning there was nothing left. :3
However, I'm coming down with something, so the next few days are going to be slow going as my fiance is going to have to feed her. It will still be raw, just not as "labor intensive" as scored and beaten chicken wings. LOL

That's okay, I hope you feel better soon! You may have some issues reintroducing her after the hiatus but nothing we can't conquer. Take care of yourself.

Feeling much better. Just some throat irritation left, and I'm coughing and spitting up all the junk left in my throat. Working with kids is definitely a strain on the immune system at time. ><;
Zoe is still eating fine. I took her out on one of our "ferret advocate" visits to Feeders Supply (our local pet store) and while I was there I put her on the scale. She's up to 1.8lbs. :3
While I was there, I also picked up a little feeder mouse to see how Zoe would do. It took her a minute to catch on, but once she realized what she was supposed to do she quickly dispatched it. She didn't eat it though, so bagged it and stuck it in the back of the freezer to try later.

Zoe is still doing good. She's eating her bone fairly regularly, and her poops are looking much better now that she is. She's also eating more than she was, which is both good and bad. LOL

No, it's great! Have you upped the size of the bone pieces or are you keeping them consistent?
I'm glad you're feeling better! Sorry I've been touch and go this week - I'm heading to PA for the AFA's Winter Nationals on Friday and between work, school, and packing, things are just crazy!
Good thinking saving that mouse. I've found that by freezing it, and cutting it into pieces while it's still frozen, they take to it easier. Then eventually they connect the dots and will eat mice right after dispatching them - though my Tank still doesn't understand that concept. He's a clean killer but he does not eat them!
What's the full report of what Zoe will eat now?

She's eating full chicken wing pieces, though I'm still scoring the meat fairly heavily. That's no big deal though I would think. She eats pork (both roast and cut up pieces of those thick country ribs), /loves/ the chicken gizzard/heart mix, and gets liver/beef/egg soup every saturday morning, which she enjoys as well. I put an ad up on craigslist about hunting leftovers/freezer burned meats and i've gotten replies about everything from a bag or two of freezer burned chicken to 40 lbs of deer meat that was being saved for summer sausage. XD
Overall she is doing amazingly. I'm trying the mouse today with a few pieces of split chicken breast to see if she shows any interest.

Awesome! I'm going to have to try that craigslist ad idea, it sounds like a great way to use someone's trash And I'm all about that! She's definitely coming along! Let me know how she takes to the mouse bits. I'm going to be leaving tomorrow morning but I will try to pop back on tonight sometime to see how she did.

She wasn't impressed at all with the mouse. As a matter of fact, I mixed it with some of her pork, and she didn't touch anything in the bowl. When I came home and cleaned out her bowl and gave her fresh food, she dug right in like a ravenous beast. I think the next time I get a mouse I'll try blending it into her saturday soup and see how she takes to it then.

Whoo did we have a scare last night! We were letting Zoe run around while we were playing D&D (geeks, I know), and when the game was over we looked around to realize that none of us had seen Zoe in about an hour and a half. Well, a mad search pursued, that involved tearing the entire house apart looking for her. We literally looked /everywhere/, from the plausible to the downright impossible. Just when we were convinced that Zoe had spontaneously combusted, she popped out from underneath out roommate's bed (I'll have you know that not only did we look under his bed, but we actually took the mattresses off the frame and beat on them to make sure she hadn't crawled inside.
Moral of the Story: Ferrets are rogues, and have Hide in Plain Sight.

Bahahahahahaha I just about died laughing (yes, I've been known to play a game or two of D&D casually.) She sounds like a good little ferret, hiding on her momma I'm sorry to hear that she didn't take to the mouse, but not hugely surprised. Try the soup method on Saturday, if that works then you can get her to eat mice that way. One of my kids (Ranger) thinks mice are smelly and won't touch them, regardless of how it's prepared or served - and especially if it's mixed into HIS food!

Yea I get paid this Friday so I figure I can spend the 2 bucks to go get another mouse for her to try. Other than that she has been doing good. Eating everything I give her, nomming away on chicken wing bones. Currently she is asleep hanging halfway out of her second level hammock. I don't know how they do that without all the blood rushing to their heads.

I always wonder the same thing, myself. Morgan is famous for sleeping in positions where you might think he is actually dead. Keep it up, she's doing great so far. The mice I find are the hardest thing to get them to eat when switching so really, if you've come this far, there's only a little ways to go!
