OMG! Gus is being a fussy butt! He won't eat the new batch of soupy. I am totally out of kibble, so I just made him soup with 1lb cooked turkey and 2 cups water and an egg in my blender He wont TOUCH it. With a tad of raw added or not. He thinks it is poison. What do I do now? I forced some down him about 3pm yesterday. He wouldn't eat at all last night, I even tried to bribe him with ferretone. He wouldn't eat this morning either Our pet store sells 1lb sample bags of zupreem for $1 and I thought about buying one and just making soup with kibble and trying to wean him off slower by making every batch with less and less kibble. Will that work?

That might work if he's still refusing, or you could force feed him the soups. Eventually he will take it, sometimes they put up big fights though. I hesitate to have you spend money on kibble but the small sample bag might do the trick. Go ahead and get it if he's still not eating the soups by tonight.
I hope he's at least taking SOME soup by now!

Well, I gave up and bought a sample bag of kibble. He still wouldn't eat at 3 this afternoon. I had forced some down him, but he just wasn't going to have it. I am going to feed him regular soupy feed with kibble tonight and then sneak some ground turkey into his morning soup. I am kinda worried about mixing kibble and raw though......that is why I was trying so hard to get him on no-kibble soup. But that didn't work. AND the bald spot on his neck is worse. It looks like he is scratching it or chewing it somehow. It is a little raw but not too bad. He doesn't have fleas, what is up with a bald itchy spot

Does the spot look like there's a bump or a sore?
I was thinking it's just part of the shed season but they don't 'shed themselves raw' ever so that's a concern.
Mixing kibble and raw for a short period of time probably won't be a problem. Keep an eye on his stool to make sure it's not creating any issues but in my experience it usually is alright. As a general rule though, I wouldn't feed them together solely because the kibble does slow down the raw and can cause gas and tummy upset. I've heard of kids being more prone to food-borne illnesses in this way, too. But for the short (HOPEFULLY!) period of time that we're switching him, it probably will be okay.
Do you have a way to get a picture of his itchy spot for me?

Let's see.......I can take a pic with my phone, but I will have to figure out the logistics of posting it So far so good. I put a speck of raw in his soup this morning just so I could say he *has* started raw I am gonna blend in about a teaspoon this afternoon and see if I can get it by him.

He is eating pea sized chunks. There were 12 of them in his plate tonight. He ate 6 of them and licked around the other 6. (yes I am a dork and I counted. LOL!) I won't say he likes them.......he looks REALLY suprised..........but he is eating them.

Well, it is often an acquired taste How is he doing today? Is he still eating chunks?

Still eating. I am still adding about 10 small chunks and it is kinda a toss up as to whether or not he notices them. If he notices them he either spits them out or goes around them If he doesn't notice, then he just looks funny when he chews

so should I just keep adding the few chunks until he is eating them all and THEN increase? or should I start increasing now and hope he doesn't notice? He is eating about an ice cube worth of raw ground a day mixed in with 8 cubes of soup. He is eating 4 in the am and 4 in the pm. (did I mention that he has gained like a whole POUND?!?) Oh and that bald spot is growing back now. It is has peach fuzz hairs now.

You can do it either way, personally I would keep the few chunks until he is visibly eating them all before adding more. But if you wanted to do it more aggressively, you can just start adding more chunks to less soup, and see how he does. Good to hear he's geared up for winter I love winter fatties!
