Chicken and turkey seem to not be favorites, but I'm still being persistant with it. I think they've been picking out the Marshall's from the new kibble and the Marshall's but it's really hard to tell. I didn't have a chance to give them the soup today (crazy day), so I will try it tomorrow morning again. ~Meg ;D

So this morning, I mixed the new kibble with the Marshall's and added a little feratone and some water, Finn was eating it...he ate small amounts twice last night, and then again this morning. Before I left for work, he vomitted. Do you think the kibble is too rich for him? It was literally about 1 minute after he had finished eating it. I stayed with him for a bit after and he seemed totally fine and content. I gave him some liquilax and waited a little longer and he just curled up in his hammock...now of course I'm so worried about him, but I couldn't take the day off...grrrr!!!

Sometimes a food switch (like different kibbles) can just be a little shock on their tummys, I wouldnt worry about it unless he becomes dehydrated or if he does it frequently.....maybe tonight for dinner blend up some of the kibbles with warm water and feed him that. Also pure pumpkin is good for settling their tummys, (but it has to be pure 100% pumpkin, not the pie filling) so maybe if hes a little unsettled you can give him a little of it. Pumpkin does many wonders with ferrets and their bowels lol

Finn was much better when I got home - totally back to normal. I think he just mowed down food too fast and then the vomit came. lol I have just Marshalls with a small amount of the new kibble and some water. I am going to try some ground soup mix again tonight in their kibble and again for the morning. THanks for the tip on the pumpkin. I read that on a couple of other threads, but didn't think of it . I'll have to go grab some to keep it on hand. Thanks!!

Oh yea no problem, I use it for everything...its my savior! haha
I forgot to add that if they eat food too fast and/or too much food, its causes vomiting...so it is probably from that!

LOL He's a little porker so I'm sure it was from him eating too fast. He is still doing just fine! I always get nervous with vomitting because Finn has never done it before and Piper has a lot and every time it happened, it was a horrible outcome, so I had knots in my stomach until I got home yesterday LOL But he is doing JUST fine! ;D

Everything has been a bit slow over here with the switch. I have been doing wetted down kibble with the two kibble mixed. This morning we added a little of our ground up cxn yumminess to the mix again. Finn chowed down this morning after he was done playing.
We've been trying to take it slow until Piper has her BG test taken again on Monday afternoon.

This morning we did the two kibble mixed 50:50 and then added about a tsp of the ground chicken mix to about 1/2c of the kibble mix and wet it down. Finn started eating it without too many complaints. I was shocked. I figured he'd be more difficult. So once Piper has her appointment on Monday afternoon, I plan on adding more of the chxn mix to get them used to the taste.

Thats great! Even that little of it is a step in the right direction....actually it may be better in the long run for your guys since its such a small amount at first and they will acquire a taste for it so it may help it go faster/easier for you Great progress!

I let them have most of their Marshall's the two days before she went in so that her BG level would be accurate. So yesterday we started to mix the new kibble and the Marshall's together, 50:50 ratio and wet it down and add the little bit of ground cxn mix. They were a little more hesitant thinking that they finally got their "good" food back, so I'm sure I set them back a few days, but I'm going to just hang in there and wait for them to come around to it. I think Finn lost a little bit of weight since this whole transition, I'll have to weigh them both and write it down tonight so I can keep track of their weight once a week or so.

You may notice a slight weight change...once ferrets switch to raw they lose the fat that is stored from the kibble (because their bodies arent meant to process kibble so its hard for it to digest all of it so much of it gets stored as fat)....they will begin to lose this fat (which is when you will notice a weight decrease) but right after they will begin to gain the proper muscle tone and you will begin to see more muscle and less fat, which is ideal. You can do the switch with marshals food if you want, I mean I understand you want a better kibble but since they are going through the switch they will begin to eat less and less kibble down the road....so they wont be on the marshals for long....but thats totally up to you....I actually switched to a better kibble right before/during my switch too, so its basically what you want and what your comfortable with
