Wow this chicken is taking FOREVER to thaw! I should of put it in some warm water.... So about 10 minutes ago I asked mom if she thought it was thawed and she said something like she'll cook it and I'm like no I want it raw. Her eyes got huge.

Hehehe I cut it up into about 1/3 of a kibble and they'll get it as soon as the kitty leaves the room. I hate kicking him out just so they can come in.

Jasper went nomnomnomnomnomNOMNOMNOM although I don't know if he got any bites of the chicken. Then he decided he wasn't hungry. Tootsie went nomnom but avoided the chicken. I decided to add water maybe and I put too much so now it's a pool of kibble chicken water. Then I realized that since Jasper was a Marshall fert that I bet he likes that Uncle Jim's duck soup and I have some floating around somewhere so I'm going to try that just to see what he does.

He might....but I've never had a ferret like it...must have been doing something wrong Found myself donating the whole jar to another ferret rescue....they were happy to get it...so it must work. Have you thought of creating a raw soupy instead?? ciao

Well I started considering that now that I think mom would let me put the organs in her blender. Kind of put the Pingfords on hold because of that. Would my blender hold up against it? I'm asking for a food processor for X-Mas. Also- is there a place where I could buy crushed egg shell? I don't trust that my blender would crush it well and it scares me. The dishwasher would completely disinfect everything, right? Are there special cleaners you all use?

It is good that your ferrets ate the kibble and chicken, even if Tootsie didn't eat the actual chicken at least she ate the kibble which smelt like chicken.
A blender would take chicken and organ just fine.. Provided it is boneless and thawed completely. When you are done I'd rinse it is hot water, slosh bleach in it then throw it in the dishwasher. When you put the meat in the blender you can throw a few egg shells in with it. The shells are super thin and work well in the blender.

Okay I'm just really worried that there will be small pieces! It won't hurt them, will it?

If you're really worried rince and dry the egg shells and grind them up to a powder. I just use a mortar and pestle (my guys eat bone most of the time so for the little amounts that I need this serves my purpose). Some people use a coffee grinder for it. I agree though the food processor should be able to handle it fine when the shell is thrown in with the rest of the meats. ciao

Still no news that's new anyway. They're taking to it a little better than usual but nothing huge. Tomorrow I won't be home (I'll be back Monday) so they won't be getting any then. Also, this is so funny!!!! Our fridge has been smelling SOOOO bad lately and no one could figure out why. Mom threw away everything that wasn't good, washed the entire inside and the shelves and put in baking soda. It still SMELLED! She did it again and found a butter dish. Awhile ago, I gave the ferrets raw turkey and put it in the fridge in a butter dish for the next day.... you get where I'm going. It was SO GROSS.
