Great idea stuffing the baby food in her mouth when she tries to chomp! Give it a shot and see how it goes - but watch the fingers. If you put baby food on the tops of Kat's paws, will she lick it off? That might work as well. If she' being bitey, she might be interested in tugging on a piece of meat. My ferrets sleep more in the cold weather. Also, its been my experience that ferrets get hyper when they first get adrenal disease - perhaps clude just has a virus??? The fur loss on the tail may be related to the mites and fall shedding. I hope it's not adrenal issues. My Kachina (brat) is slow at growing her fur this fall- she's behind he other 3, so I'll probably run an adrenal panel ($$$) on her in January. Let me know how Kat does with the baby food. Is she still picking around all the freeze-dried food? If so, crush he kibble to make it harder for her! -jennifer

yes she is still picking at the kibble she it a total brat i mean Princess good idea about the baby food on the paws that way i dont get a finger taken off lol . Clude is doing better i do think it was a cold and the fur loss from the mites i gave him and bath and we got a cold spell so i think he just got a little cold he is getting back to himself he was one that really didnt jump and play he was one of the laid back ones but this was a little to laid back. oh bty looks like we might be taking a new one in about x-mas our friends son has two and took a friends in but its a little to playfull and plays a little to ruff with his other two so we will take it in and see what we can do and get him/her a good home lol "oso's home for un wanted ferrets" lmao

Will she kick the baby food from her paws? That would be great!!!! If so, you might want to roll her around in a big pan full of it - but use a pair of grilling tongs On a serious note, mix some ferretone in the baby food since she likes the ferretone Give her a little bit daily as a treat - use mostly ferretone at first - and do this until she starts to like it. then slowly back off on the ferretone. is Kat eating ANY of the freeze-dried? If not, you need to crush the kibble lightly to get it into smaller pieces. I'm glad Clude is getting better - didn't sound like the first signs of adrenal - and once the "fur schedule" gets mesed up, it can take until the next shedding season to get things settled down. I hope the new little guy will be fun...my youngest is a monster around the other 3 brats - it took a while for them to accept him since he is rough with them, and he's big and wild. Have fun with the new little one! -jennifer

The crumbly Wysong hides well with the kibble.. I hope Kat will start eating it wih her food (findgers crossed), My kids find the wysongs more palatable than the Stella and chewies, and they initially avoided the ziwipeak, which seems to be mire processed than the other two - it smells more artificial.
Keep working with her and watch your fingers...Is Kat biting when you're not putting eat in her mouth? If so, it this new bhavior? If so, you may want to give her a little break from the hand feeding. Try giving her kibble with Wysong during the day and Wysong with only a very small amount of kibble in it at night. The in the morning, see if she'll eat the Wysong when she wakes up. Then add a little more kibble. She knows the stuff is edible - may she'll take a bite if she gets hungry enough!

The others may be eating it....if you have a separate cage for her at night - or can set he up in the bathroom by herself, you'll be able to tell if she's eating the wysong's. Otherwise, it will be impossible to know what's happening. Of course, you'll be able to tell if she starts losing weight. also, storing the kibble mixed in with the Wysong in a zip-lock bag for few days before serving will make the two foods more similar by smell.
I'm glad she's play-biting and not getting mad or terribly stressed out by the food. Some ferrets need a break from the forc feeding because they start dreading the "feeding event"! A little ferretone with a few crumbles of wysong may work as a treat as well.

yea we dont have another cage for her so we will have to just feed her by herself and watch her for now and see what she does they all eat together so your right its hard to watch but what i have done is placed the bag of wysong in the feeder with the kibble so it will smell like the wysong. sorry i wasnt on our friend passed away sunday nite from a massive heart attack its still a shock he was 88 an old cowboy it was sad watching the emts running him out of the house.he didnt make it to the hospital

OMG - I'm so, so sorry to hear about your friend...that's terrible news and an ultra-extreme stressful ordeal as well. I lost a good friend from at heart attack this year. It was such a shock to get the news, let alone having to be there to witness the event.
I'll be curious to hear how storing the foods together works for Kat. If don't let Kat have access to lots "easy kibble", she should stsrta eating some of the freeze-dried, epecially of the kibble is partially crushed with the crumbled freeze-dried foods. The key is to not let her fill up on kibble and make it virtually impossible for Kat to seaparate the freeze-dried from the kibble.
Good luck, and let me know how it goes!

Yes. the freeze-dried does help...it's the only way for some ferrets to get into raw. It's great that Kat seems to be getting more interested in things...your hard work is starting to pay off. She's obviously enjoying the attention more than eating something weird is annoying her - but the little princess would never admit it! Keep up the play time and enrichment along with the freeze-dried....she is making progress!!!! Work is till intense, and the hloidays will be upon us, so this is just a "head's up" to let you know that I'll be slower to respond over the next couple of weeks. But, you know the ropes and how to handle Kat!!!! Hopefully the new ear willl be a bit less hectic! -jennifer

I agree with you on stores not closing for the bigger holidays...it akes it so hard on the employees. We'll be visiting my folks in Florida, which is a different kind of distraction - just tough to get online. An this week, work wants a bunch of things completed that are not within my control..but I need to work long hours to make it look good even though it won't make any difference...it's the industry standard behavior Anyway, you have a great holiday too - and keep that little princess well fed!!! -jennifer
