1. Name: Carnivorouszoo AKA Katherine
2. City/State: Clinton, MO
3. How long have you owned ferrets:Off and on for 6 years
4. How many ferrets do you currently own: Just rescued a pair, so 2.
5. How long have you been feeding a natural diet: (please post the approx month/year you started feeding! If you say "2 years" then as time passes that will no longer be correct. Get what I'm saying? ) Just started trying to swithc so, May 2010.
6. What type of diet do you feed? Currently on a blend of kibbles getting a soup once a day made of: 1 cup kibble, 1/4 cup water, 1 jar meat baby food (I rotated this as to which kind), and 3 ground hopper feeder mice.
7. How old were your ferrets when you switched them to a natural diet? Turned 3 Jan 2010.
8. Do you have any other pets? If so, what kind, and do you feed them a natural diet as well? technically 2 cats-one is an indoor outdoor refuses to eat anything here, he hunts mostly squirrel and possum. The other is indoor only on cat food but also using the ferret soup to help switch over. Also have 5 cornsnakes and they all get ft feeders.
9.Why did you begin feeding a natural diet? I had a cat in the past that could only eat raw meats, all processed foods made him ill. When I saw this sickly dying cat get a full coat, fill out with muscles and have his lukimia go into remission I was astonished. Saddly it came back full force when we got hit with hard times and had to go back to canned food which did not cause as much issues as kibble prior. We lost him in December 09. I want the best for my current pets and our finances are MUCH better now than in Dec.
10. What would you say to someone who was interested in natural diets for ferrets? (ie would you tell them to go for it, what advice would you give, etc) READ! Ask questions, and if the person you are asking doesn't know, ask someone else. If it sounds impossible, see if it happened for anyone else. Do not just take one person or one books word for anything. Always research.
