He is eating pretty normally, but I am still really worried. I forgot to add - last night I tried to give him a little olive oil which he normally Loves. However, he acted like the oil burned him or something! He kept on backing away when he got it on him and making weird faces like it hurt his mouth (ever see the you tube video of the ferret that licked a jalapeno?) or something and would scrunch his face all up and back up really quick kind of tossing his head around a little. Yesterday and today he got boneless chicken, which would account for soft poop (b/c of not having the bone), but not diarrhea.... any thoughts?

Sounds like some pumpkin is in order and maybe some bone or egg shell in the meat mix. I've got a couple of furbabies who have to have bone every other meal or day (whichever way you want to look at it ) Still playing ok?, eating ok? He may have a touch of a bug too? Keep an eye on him, check for lethargy, dehydration, if he's off his food...one symptom raises a red flag but may mean nothing more than a food imbalance...multiple symptoms means you have to start doing some serious investigating ciao

Well I am starting to worry that perhaps he ate something again!?!?! WHAT am I going to DO with this creature?!?!? He IS pooping which is a good sign, but it is all mushy jello poop. Could diarrhea be a sign of a partial blockage? He is eating and he is alert. Not sure about lethargic just because today I have kept him in a cage all day, or sleeping in my lap, to keep an eye on him after this morning's foot-fiasco. He obviously didn't want to walk around much (and I didn't want him to) so I think the sleeping was more just boredom. When I took him out into another room to see if he'd play, and when I put him back into his FN cage when we got home, he seemed active enough. I have a doctor's appt for myself in the morning, and then lab all day. I wish I could stay home and watch him! I swear he is NOT helping the whole stress-level thing right now. I got him to eat some Vaseline+Ferret Vite, as well as a few tablespoons of canned organic pumpkin (nothing in it but pumpkin), some boneless chicken, and some squash baby food (squash and water). I have more chicken thawing right now. I was planning on feeding him rats tonight, but if he DID eat something, I probably do not want to give him bone, correct? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He discovered how to climb up onto the bathroom counter Somehow - our best guess as to how he hurt his paw was by climbing the drawers and catching his toe somehow. Anyways, the counter is about 3 feet tall or so (typical bathroom counter height) and we have NEVER had a problem with him getting up there. There is nothing near it that he can use as a step stool, or move over to use as a step stool, and it is vertical. And higher than he can jump. Well somehow he learned to climb up there - we think he uses the drawers to climb (they stick out by a TINY amount so he could in theory hook his claws on to climb them). A few days ago (when he learned this) he got into the trash that we moved up there to keep away from him. Luckily there wasn't anything in there except tissue paper...and Q-tips. He ate part of a Q-tip, and we were really scared. But my bf found the entire Q-tip part (he compared size and what not to the other Q-tips and the half that he left behind) in his poop so he was obviously able to pass it. That was a few days ago and he has been fine. Well, apparently he has also decided to rip apart the inside of my bf's box-spring. We pulled the cover off so that he can't hide things in there, but he stands on his hind legs and claws at the side. I found a piece of foam on the ground, and another in his poop dish at home - meaning he passed it. All I can say is that I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hope and pray and beg that that is all that he got into, or that he passes anything else. I think I am developing several peptic ulcers and some grey hairs. I don't understand how he does these things! We keep an eye on him, and anytime we hear smacking, chewing, clawing, we check to make sure that he is not eating anything. we ferret proof and re-ferret proof regularly. And yet he STILL finds things to eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I truly do NOT get it! I feel like the only way to keep him safe is to lock him in an empty, solid metal box and keep him there! I do NOT have any more money for more vet bills and surgery right now. I am still recovering from the last one!!!! I have to avoid going to the vet if at all possible. If I go again it will mean taking out another loan. I already had to use loan/tax refund money to cover his last vet bill. AND i have to pay a few hundred $ to take the MCAT here soon, more $$$$ hundreds to APPLY to Med school, Tuition will be a LOT this Fall, I absolutely Have to finish my iguana's new cage - her current one is WAY too small, and she can't free roam much longer bc she is a disgusting creature and refuses to not poop everywhere - including behind my heat vent - and that is still going to cost another 1-2 hundred, then I have to pay to live and eat and bills and rent...... Oh yes, and my car is leaking oil and needs a new windshield. I am sure that there is a lot more that I am missing too. SFKHSDGDHGLVBdjkghsktu94589234u irewahsfl!!!!!!!!!!!! KODA!!!!!! I can;t imagine life without Koda. He has taken over my heart and everyone else's, my wallet and my room too. Blaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!

He pooped again!!!!!! Oh thank goodness!!!!! It is a Nice, solid, normal looking poop. No blood, no agitation, straining or crying, a full healthy looking poop. I think I might cry I have been happy to see poops before but this one is special. lol Maybe I should keep it... JK! lol I am still not done worrying, and will be watching his poop for a few days yet, and his foot but still! I live with way too much stress and I swear Koda is making me more paranoid than I am. Every time he coughs, chews, poops funny....I think it won't be long before I am in a looney bin! haha I am still not convinced he is in the clear, not until his nail has grown back and his poops are consistently normal. He coughed a few times I think, so I am still worried. He hasn't had a chance to eat anything today other than what I gave him bc he has been in a cage all day...but still.... His poops seem to be extra smelly lately. The diarrhea and gas smelled terrible, and I can't tell if I am imagining it or not (I just finished cleaning out all of my critter cages earlier) but I think this one might be a little smelly from where I am sitting. I have been giving him a little more Ferret Vite lately a) for training, and b) primarily because the Q-tip worried me and I wanted to be sure ANYTHING else that could be in there came out. Mixing in the ferret Vite is the only way to get him to eat Vaseline...could that be the reason for the smell possibly? I really truly do not know what I would do without this forum and every one here! I think that you guys, my bf, and probably my Mom, are the only people who can not only seem to withstand - but also Understand - my ridiculous paranoia and craziness. lmao ....I am going to need a lot of coffee tomorrow....

I think you need some Valerian root tea, not a coffee Koda is a difficult furbaby. Deep breath, you've survived this one...I'm sure he can find some other way to get to you in the next few day...or should I say hours Good luck hon, we're here if you need us ciao

It's possible he simply had some meat stashed somewhere(and yes- I feed in the cage, but they still manage to knock some out!), and ate that. Mine will sometimes get the squirts if they've done this. Hey- at the very least you KNOW you have an active, confident baby boy I can keep nothing in my bathroom cupboards, or on the counter, because they've figured out how to get into/onto both of those! They use the toilet to jump to the counter, and figured out cupboard doors a long time ago Oh, Koda! You're driving your mamma to a heart attack if you keep this up! And the valerian root tea Heather suggested really does work.
