My parents are convinced that feeding raw holds no benefits over kibble (any kibble) and that Mango and Kiwi would look exactly the same on "ferret food". So I tried to prove my point by showing them new ferret's coat compared to the other two. Mango and Kiwi's coats are both soft and shine whereas the new girl's is coarser and doesn't have the same shine (yet of course). They were like, "Oh so you think that's because of their diet? She's a different ferret so of course her coat is different." Mango and Kiwi aren't siblings so I felt this logic was somewhat flawed. There's just no convincing some people

There is at times no convincing a person who has already closed their mind to a suggestion. It doesn't matter what proof you have, they've already got a counter for it. Mine is I know what I'm doing for my little ones is the best I can do for them, there is no argument. My parents thought I was a nut case 10 yrs ago when they found out that I was feeding my furbrats raw. Now, after years of rashes, poor coats, allergies, tons of vet bills....they're now feeding their little dogs raw food. It takes time ciao

Bluemoose,
Their eyes will open and they'll not be able to make any excuses when your new girl transitions to the new diet! Take pictures often so they can see a time lapse of her transformation. Let them feel her. The proof is in the "petting"! Muscle tone, stamina, intensity; coat length, density and texture; teeth attachment, cleanliness, brilliance and gum color are ALL indicators of health and ALL these improve immensely when the ferret gets to eat what it evolved to eat! Beyond their physical improvements they are much more emotionally balanced and less prone to so called "anti- social" or unacceptable behaviors when combining a natural diet program with a more natural style housing and co habitation with people. I have experienced this time and time again with the ferrets I've transitioned and there is just NO way a kibble diet offers what the ferret really needs to become a TRUE ferret ! Don't let them discourage you - instead let them see for themselves the definite improvements!
From the pix I'd call her a roan bibbed mitt. But with an improved diet will also come a change in color! SHe looks like a gentle natured ferret. Glad you opened your home to her!
Cheers, Kim

Well hopefully they come around one day. My parents are probably the most skeptic people I know so it takes a lot to convince them of anything I think part of the problem is they've never met an older ferret who has been fed kibble it's whole life (new ferret is only four months) so they don't realize the difference. I don't think they even know that most ferrets "stink" I tried to show my father the differences in their coats but he claimed they felt the same But anyway, regardless of what they think I know raw is the best and I feed them so that's all that really matters

It took some scruff and stuff but the new fuzz ate some soupies and then a couple bites of her first whole prey. She still won't take anything on her own but she relented enough to eat soupie if I fed it to her. If I offered her the dish and didn't spoon it up she'd turn her nose up at it It's a start.

She is beautiful, gorgeous silver mitt. Her markings are very distinct. I love the "I'm the king of the castle" shot with the three of the little ones. ciao
