So I woke Koda up tonight to give him his chickeny-lamb mush and he was behaving strangely. He always shakes when he first wakes up, but this time he was trembling pretty hard and continued to tremble. I noticed he hadn't eaten any of the meat in his cage from last night. I think perhaps he doesn't like the pancreatin? He had ground lamb, and a little freeze dried lamb, flax, pancreatin and reishi blended up and put in the fridge for the night (late night/early morning) before. He hadn't touched it, so I think the only food he has eaten was a little freeze dried lamb patty last night early in the evening. Maybe that is why he was shaking?(his poops look great btw) Anyways, I was trying to feed him his chicken-lamb-pumpkin-flax-reishi mush and he was shaking and shaking and wouldn't eat. I had to hand feed it to him a spoon at a time. I managed to get him to eat half of the serving, which isn't quite what he should eat, but not too bad either - maybe half or a little more of about 1/3cup serving....so like 1/6 to 1/4 of a cup? Anyways, then I put him in the tub with a mouse (and Kenai and a mouse) and he went insane - it was his fastest kill yet! Maybe because Kenai was in there and he wanted his mouse to not get stolen? Anyways, I put him back in the cage with the mouse (after chasing him under the couch! haha Last time I leave the bathroom door open during a hunt!) and he played with the mouse a bit and ate the top half. Maybe he was slow eating the other food because it has been so long since he has had chicken and now he thinks it is poison? He has always LOVED chicken though!

The shaking could be from his blood sugar having dropped if he didn't eat. Athena will do that from time to time if she doesn't like what I've served. I've had her to the vet over it, and she's fine. No insulinoma, but I try to make sure she eats regularly, even when I have to hand feed.

I tried to give him a little more mush this morning, but he would only eat a bite. Hopefully he eats more on his own...

I recommend yanking out the pancreatin and the reishi and see if he eats everything normally...... (those are the things that are likely the "strangest" tasting. If Koda s till reluctant to eat, yank the flax as well.) you may need to introduce the amount of supplement very slowly or keep the amount down to a lesser percentage. It may be possible that too much of these supplement might cause nausea/indigestion, although this usually shows up in the form of vomiting and/or diarrhea, teeth grinding, drooling and/or excessively "licking his chops"/lips.
The lower blood sugar from not eating could cause the extra shaking. This behavioral change may be associated with prolonged stress (lifestyle change) as well (or a combination of things.)
The fast kill is more likely due to sibling rivalry.
Keep us posted. There are lots of options out there. Just because thee things worked best on the IBD boy I had doesn't mean these will be Koda's best options.

I would as Jennifer suggested remove the supplements. I know that you're looking for the perfect poops, but if you're only getting them because of the lack of food he's eating Some of those supplements have a very strong taste not only to go down but an after taste. I've heard of people complaining that their dogs won't eat the pancreatine as a scoop powder. If they kill his appetite because he's got a weird taste in his mouth, he won't eat. Rieshi mushrooms have a stronger flavour than some of the milder mushrooms but he's been eating those before, right? In your log, what was the last thing that you added that he was still eating well? Go back to that. Just a thought, too....are you using capsules or whole foods? Obviously the pancreatine is probably a powder but is it in a capsule or do you scoop a spoon. Some additives or fillers leave a metalic flavour and will cause nausea. Or is it a homeopathic (liquid or globules), which will have no flavour and is pure? ciao

It is a capsule, but I break the capsule open and sprinkle it in the food. I haven't added pancreatine (to the chicken mush) but I did add reishi and flax. I will take them out and see if that helps...

I suspect the reishi may have a strong taste that Koda is not used to. My kids developed a taste for the mushrooms. So now they're OK with it - they seem to like mushrooms.
Once Koda s back on track, you ca try very small amounts of the of one thing and slowly increase the amount to the recommended dose or even a little less - my brats are on the "bigger-than-average" size because they are late alters.

I find the later alters much bigger too. Especially, in the bone and muscle dept. Odin isn't a huge ferret by any means but just structurally he's amazing (he was altered at 5 yrs). I know even when grabbing into a sleep box in the dark if I've got hold of him or Thor and I can tell the two boys apart too. Thor was altered during his first season. There is so much damage done by the early alters We don't do them any favours ciao
