I just picked up a whole bunch of whole ground chicken carcasses for my cats, what will I generally have to supplement for them? (Assuming a great many of you own cats and dogs along with your ferrets)
Thanks.

When you say whole ground, do they include the liver and other organs? If so, then you don't need to supplement anything. I would watch their poops, though. Cats need far less bone and liver than ferrets.

What should I be watching for? Also, I got the information for the chickens from this site, actually lol Raw food suppliers in Ontario, Canada thread. " KING CAPON 18347 Warden, NEWMARKET, ONTARIO Ask for Michelle. Telephone: (905) 478-2382 Ground chicken (full carcass, ground up), $0.75/lb ground, comes in a 50+ lb box, cut into brick-size blocks. Or whole carcasses at $0.50/lb. Open from 5 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday."

If cats have too much bone, they can become very constipated. I know I can't give NV raw to my youngest cat on a regular basis for just that reason. It contains 10% bone, and for him, it's too much. If a cat is on a frankenprey diet, you only need to give a couple chicken necks(or the equivalent) a week for bone. And with liver? Just a couple grape sized pieces per week does the job! Here's a really good link for cats and raw: rawfedcats.org/ They've got a lot of good info. Only problem is they are pretty fanatical about using whole meats instead of ground.
